abunda_amazon_reviews My review is for the 40" deluxe model. First of all, this is a nice smoker with lots of space inside, made of quality material. All the reviews that mention "pipe fit" problems or smoke leaking out around the pipe are apparently from people that just didn't read the assembly diagram properly. THE PIPE SHOULD BE INSERTED FROM INSIDE THE BARREL PEOPLE, NOT THE OUTSIDE!! If you do this, the holes line up perfectly. I even saw pictures posted by people showing the pipe sitting on the outside of the barrel and statements about it just sitting on top without the bolts because the holes didn't line up. Needing to drill holes for this is nonsense if you install the pipe as properly depicted in the diagram. This isn't an assembly to attempt by yourself if you are a "first timer" or have difficulty following assembly diagrams. Get help if that is your situation. The bolts, nuts, etc, are clearly labeled and numbered. The smoker parts are clearly labeled in the diagrams. Sure, the parts themselves don't have little stickers on them, but come on, there aren't that many parts and it is really clear which part is being referenced in the diagram since the parts are very different from each other. If you aren't a visual person, you will probably have difficulty. Regarding the paint peeling/melting "the first use", this wasn't my experience at all. Be sure you season the smoker metal per the instructions. Use the fire grate to hold the coals up, i.e. don't just put them on the bottom of the firebox or laying next to the sides (which is also mentioned in the instructions). And for goodness sake, don't dump lighter fluid into the firebox to start your coals. It will get all over the bottom and light the fire directly on the metal. Plus don't close the firebox lid until the flames have burned out when you first light the coals. As far as the recommendation posted to leave some ash on the bottom all the time to help protect it, just know that ash absorbs moisture, so you may end up causing a rust problem. The instructions also explicitly recommend against leaving ash on the bottom as suggested. Overtime you may experience some of the paint coming off in the high heat areas, but that is not unusual for smokers. This is why "high temp black spray paint" was invented, which is awesome in keeping any smoker looking great over time. The comments regarding not being able to maintain the temp for several hours is not my experience with this smoker. If you adjust the side vent on the firebox and the smoker stack cover properly, you should not have this problem. If you are a newbie smoker, it may take some trial and error experience for you to figure it out. Bottom line is buy this smoker with confidence, and enjoy some great smoke meat as you learn to master the fine are of smoking!;;Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2019;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Ignore the negative reviews... clearly some clueless reviews...;;Kent;;;Great looking unit. Assembly was very easy and took less than 2 hours. Other reviewers have mentioned issues installing the smokestack, trouble because the parts are not labeled, or other assembly problems. All of these can only be explained as inexperience with parts assembly, as the instructions are very plain and straight forward (it’s nothing but diagrams, and the numbers are all indexed in the front of the instructions). If you have experience with hand tools and assembly diagrams, you’ll be fine. If not, call your buddy that is good with tools to help, or pay the “expert installation” fee. Do not attempt if this is the first product you have ever assembled. As for using the grill, it’s a great setup with HUGE capacity. Perfect for direct grilling or offset smoking. Like most smokers this style, it is not completely air tight so smoke leaks a little. This is normal and expected. The important thing is that the design allows even distribution throughout the entire smoking chamber, keeping the foods smoking evenly. Really nice unit. I would definitely buy again!;;Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2019;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Good large capacity smoker.;;Amazon Customer;;;Nice smoker for the price. Took off 1 star for the smoke pipe not fitting properly. Just had to drill 2 new holes to make it work. Takes about 45 minutes to assemble. The instructions are ok but don't explain too well how to install the shelf on the legs. You have to follow the directions and then pick up the legs to lock in the shelf. Took about 3 hours to season the grill and get all the manufacturing process off. One big tip that nobody else here has offered is to place about an inch of ash in the bottom so you don't melt the paint on the bottom. The ash provides a good bit of insulation to the bottom paint.;;Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2018;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;Great grill but has minor fitting issues.;;Bob;;;I bought this for my husband for father's day 2018. long overdue review as I was giving it time for usage to really write a review. First use the bottom pan on the outside bottom drum peeled or melted off. I was able to contact Charboil who sent me a spray paint to seal it which was great as they are really good to work with. The smoker itself is the best thing that my husband had used. We've used various smokers before that are similar to this and this by far outbeats all. Spacewise we can put in about 4 ribs or sooo many food in the main drum to smoke. Loved the fact that it takes less time smoking due to the space being so large from what we've used before. Overall smoker is great! If your yard allows the space to place this smoker/grill then get this. It's larger than your average charcoal bbq grill you see at HomeDepot and other stores. Putting the smoker was not really easy but enough time spent on this is about 2 hours. You have to remember to cure it though before first use. The directions gives you details on it. Originally, I replaced my first Char-Broil Offset Firebox smoker with a fancy, stainless electric smoker. That smoker worked fine, but I missed the involvement with the smoking process and so I sold that one and purchased this. Call me crazy but I love tending to the charcoal fire, the wood chunks, and occasionally rotating the ribs or whatever I happen to be cooking. Easy to season, just like my cast iron skillets. Easy to put together also. No professional assembly needed. This is built well also. I bought him one, paid good money for a brand name and the wheels came off quickly. So, he had to prop a piece of plywood under where the wheel used to be.
