abunda_amazon_reviews I purchased two of these CF3 torque wrenches specifically because they have a reputation for having good quality and were American made. However, I was disappointed to find both had quality issues right out of the box. In the first wrench, I couldn't even install the batteries because the battery contact spring appears to have been installed out of place. I'm sure I could bend it into a working position with pliers but I really don't expect to have to hack a new tool in order to make it work. How did it even pass quality control??? This unit had a manufacture date of May 2018. The second wrench had the infamous locked ratcheting head problem that several other reviewers have commented about. I ignored those complaints thinking CDI would address such a common, reoccurring issue...but this wrench was locked up right out of the box. The second wrench had a manufacture date of December 2017 so it doesn't seem like any improvements were made there. I gave the product a two star rating because the operation of the second wrench I tried out was decent and the three stage LEDs + maximum torque level reading reached is very effective, despite the poor quality control. The product branding is also down played, as the CDI name is very inconspicuous despite a huge spot on the handle (the red version of this wrench is branded on the handle after all). I returned both due to the lack of quality control and will seek out another product for my shop.;;Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2018;;2.0 out of 5 stars;;Quality Problems in Two Units;;Tinkering Turtle;;;The tool itself is well built. The only reason I deducted a star for my review, is that the image is misleading. Many bolts that require torquing are also TTY (Torque to Yield) type bolts that require an additional angle turn (example, the transmission pan bolts for a Mercedes with 722.9 transmission, the bolts are 4Nm and additional 180 degree turn). The image for this item shows a built in angle gauge. Read the product descriptions, there is a similar model that around $200 more that actually does include a built in angle gauge, this one DOES NOT have that functionality.;;Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2014;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;Quality tool but the description image is misleading;;Leigh J. Flex-head, short-click ratchets open up new possibilities for getting to nuts you didn't think were previously accessible. And having an electronic torque wrench, coming from the days of clicker wrenches, is a new world of confidence for tasks you really don't want to be unsure of - do you really want to put your family in a vehicle that you *think* the lug nuts are properly torqued on? Gone are the days of wondering whether or not your wrench lost calibration in the toolbox since the last time you used it. Gone are the vague "is that a click or not" moments. This wrench will let you know definitively through audible and visual cues, although it lacks the Snap-On version's vibration feature. I don't work in a very noisy shop, so I've never had an issue hearing the beep. Batteries aren't the easiest to find locally, but are available on Amazon for a reasonable cost. It's worthwhile to go shopping for one of these used, as the second-hand market seems to be strong. The fragrance is so strong that everyone comments on it, and it bothers people who use it. There must be a short somewhere within the torque wrench, because the first time we opened it up and inserted the batteries, it would power off in the middle of torquing or shaking the wrench. At an autocross, I had used it for the first time, and I had to rush to get to grid after getting our racing wheels/tires onto the car. Each lug nut took forever to torque, as the wrench would cut out (it would power off) with each movement during tightening. When I would turn it back on, it didn't remember the torque setting I had before it cut off because the power fully detached itself from the circuitry inside. How it did this, we have no clue. It looked as if a battery warning (low battery?) sometimes appeared during this stressful time. I had to baby the wrench as if it were nitroglycerin explosives the whole time. I have a lot of regret purchasing this, and with no signs of prior use, I can only assume the serious amount of fragrance within came from the manufacturer. We have set this wrench out in the open (also the case) to let it air out, but the odor will not go away. It's not a petrol odor, but more like FeBreeze. It is entirely offensive!;;Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2014;;2.0 out of 5 stars;;What were they thinking?!?;;TiaBoBia
