  • Great Affordable Option
I got this for my motorcycle helmet to listen to music while riding. I could hear all my music over the bike with no problem. The controls are super easy to use even when wearing gloves. The only thing I never tried was the microphone or communicating with other riders but if you're looking for an affordable option to listen to some in helmet music this is perfect. ... show more

  • Loved it until it fell off.. Rare but true. Better than I expected. And I'm a tough reviewer.
Update: replacement unit installed. This is a great unit. I think better then the sena equivalent but that’s just me. Intercom riding was flawless. Okay, I don't give out 5's often. I can't stand when people try to make it feel rude not to give a 5. 5's are for perfection and without those standards, the online reviews mean nothing to me. This said I read many reviews from multiple sites when choosing important items to purchase. I watched video reviews from RevZilla, youtube, and other sources. As well, read many on this site before making my choice. I am truly happy with this purchase. I was concerned with buying a Bluetooth headset for an open face helmet, but I was not disappointed in this case. I decided to go for the freecome 4+ simply because of the upgraded JBL speakers. Doing the math when buying the frecom+ and buying the JBL's as an addon was almost the same price anyway. So 1st critique: the directions were chaotic in my opinion. I really struggled with feeling confident in how to put this in my specific helmet, but I figured it out so I didn't ding the product for this. 2nd critique: the velcro on the boom mic actually separated from the mic rather than peeling away from the mounting velcro but not a big deal as I used both peices to attach and everything feels secure. With these aside, all I can say is wow! I put the helmet on and turned on my music and loved the sound. I then got on my bike MT07 and took off for a test ride. At normal street speeds, it's perfect. I received a call from pops and it was clear and easy for both of us. getting on the freeway I opened it up and at 80 the wind noise is kind of loud but I still enjoyed the beat and bass of my music. I wish I could bring the level up just a bit higher, but I am completely satisfied with what I have. I have my speakers installed behind my pads without the velcro booster pads and I have a feeling if I put those in it would bring up the sound level and quality but as is I'm loving this system. (disclaimer, I have not tried voice recognition yet. Ill add to this review if there is anything, which would change this review after testing that. ... show more

  • Be careful
I love this the sound is great to me BUT the attachment is not very secure if you don’t do it carefully mine flew off when I was riding not sure if I accidentally hit the release button or it was not put on correctly so almost $200 down the drain yet I’m gonna buy another one! Lol so just be careful to make sure it’s secure! ... show more

  • Read for great sound setup. The JBL speakers sound awesome!
This review is for the Freecom4+. I see some negative reviews about the sound quality of this unit but either they didn't install them correctly, had unrealistic expectations or they need to see a hearing doctor immediately. Let me preface this review by saying I don't have great hearing. Many years of loud equipment around me. If I say something sounds good you can take that to the bank! I installed this unit in a modular helmet (Shark Evo One 2). I placed them right under the hollowed out pad directly wear my ear is located. You must put them right on your ears or they will sound weak just like any other small speaker. These are only 40mm speakers they don't move a lot of air. They are designed to pump right into your ears and they do an excellent job of doing that. The sound is full and clear with very good bass for speakers this size. At 60mph on my Harley Road Glide at about half volume I was hearing my music perfectly. Full blast was painfully loud. I actually kept listening to the freecom over my great sounding Biketronics Amp and Speaker setup on my bike because it sounded so clear. It felt like I was in a studio. Please note on my Andriod phone the volume of the phone bluetooth is separate from the volume of the freecom. Make sure your phones bluetooth volume is turned all the way up so you send a strong signal to the freecom. Then control listening volume with the freecom volume wheel or your voice. If you fail to do it this way you will not get good volume and you will be overworking the freecom and draining more battery then needed. The handsfree calling and noise cancellation worked great. I made a call at 50 mph to my wife and she thought I was in the house. She heard no background noise at all. The natural voice commands worked about 90% of the time but I am just getting used to the verbiage. I expect that to improve. I didn't try connecting to another bike so I can't speak about that. I don't need that. I just wanted this for phone calls. However when I wear this setup I will be listening to my music though the freecom. It's a nice change from blasting my bike radio to compensate for all the road noise. ... show more

  • Better than expected
Overall, very happy with this headset. I mostly use it for GPS navigation and music with the occasional phone call. For phone calls, the other party many times cannot even hear my motorcycle. On my end of the call, they sound clear and great. Same goes for GPS. Music is a little more tricky. You need to make sure the speaker placement is very good. If you off just a little, quality (especially bass) suffers. But, that is really an installation issue and not the headsets fault. There are only have two minor issues I would like to see improved. First, the ability to replace the battery when it eventually goes bad. Second, the charging plug is a directional micro USB. A non-directional USB C port would be nicer. ... show more
