The camera then makes optimal settings to help facilitate incredible image capture, whether you're shooting stills or video. With Smart AUTO, all you have to do is frame your shot and capture away.Digital IS helps reduce the effect of camera shake and subject movementSometimes even the steadiest of hands can move a little, and during night photos or when zoomed in close, even a small shudder can blur a photo. Digital IS on the PowerShot ELPH 180 camera analyzes the image in order to electronically remove blur and fuzzy edges, helping to ensure you get a clear picture.Scene Modes such as Fisheye Effect, Toy Camera Effect and Monochrome provide creative freedom to capture your photos The PowerShot ELPH 180 camera provides shooting modes that can easily give your shots a distinctly artistic feel without the need for any extra lenses and filters. You can make a quirky portrait using the Fisheye Effect or add a beautiful single-tone effect with Monochrome. Toy Camera Effect simulates a vintage look as if capturing the photo using a “toy” or pinhole camera. Smart AUTO The camera automatically selects the best shooting settings for optimal quality based on subjects and environmental factors to provide point-and-shoot simplicity. Program The camera automatically and intelligently selects the aperture/shutter speed combination based on the shooting conditions. Portrait Brings the subject into focus while beautifully blurring the background. Face Self-timer The camera waits for a face to enter the frame before releasing the shutter. Low Light For high-quality image capture in an amazing range of dimly lit situations. Fisheye Effect Now you can get the fisheye effect – a classic photographic distortion – without a fisheye lens. Miniature Effect Give images a miniature look with an effect that emphasizes perspective by blurring the top and bottom of the image. Toy Camera Effect Simulates photos taken with “toy” or pinhole cameras, darkening the image at the edges to create a vignette effect. Monochrome Choose from three single-tone effects Black-and-White, Sepia or Blue. Super Vivid Super Vivid intensifies existing hues, saturating the scene with bright colors. Poster Effect Poster Effect combines several similar shades into one color, turning subtle gradations into eye-catching, scene- popping contrasts. Fireworks Create brilliant images of skyrocketing fireworks. Long Shutter Use to blur moving subjects for artistic effect, ideal for urban night photography. Movie Record video; unwanted scenes can be deleted in playback mode. Actual results may vary from examples shown above. Final image may vary depending on picture composition. Enable the Auto Zoom feature and your camera will automatically zoom in to help frame your subject and help keep it in focusNow, beautifully framed shots using the powerful 8x Optical Zoom are as easy as pressing the Auto Zoom button. With Auto Zoom, the camera automatically determines the correct size and framing by detecting the number of subjects. The system also detects faces that are too small, then zooms in to the proper length. Auto Zoom is a great feature for spontaneous everyday shooting, and especially useful for times when someone else (even a child) is using your camera, for instance at a tourist spot. ECO Mode helps reduce power consumption for longer battery lifeThe PowerShot ELPH 180 camera features ECO Mode to help provide a high number of shots per single charge through LCD monitor and camera power management. The mode can be activated via a dedicated button for easy power preservation when you are out for the day or the moment is too important to put the camera down. ECO Mode quickly wakes the camera from sleep when a button is pressed so you won't miss the moment. Help Button provides simple explanations and easy control of your settingsThe PowerShot ELPH 180 camera is designed to be fun and easy to use, even for beginners. A Help Button on the camera's exterior brings up the help menu when you need it, right on the LCD screen. • Pretty Good Camera!
Color: Red Style: Base
The camera is pretty good although I did notice there were some scratches all around the camera. I like how it came with a battery and a charger. That makes up for it. It takes pretty good pictures so I am not mad. I have taken a lot more pictures with it and I can say that it’s not my to go camera. You can also fill a video but you will not be able to hear it until you transfer it to your phone or another device. ... show more

  • Couldn't Be More Pleased
Color: Red Style: Base
For a small compact little portable camera, it takes GREAT photos. So far, every photo (approx. 100) I've taken has been clear & bright, with awesome quality. The colors are vibrant and this camera catches the detail of the object...just as I need it to. The auto zoom is perfect for getting the fine details of the object being photographed. When I edit the photos in my photo program, I do not lose any resolution...the photos remain crisp & clear. I purchased a 128 GB SanDisk memory card, which was simple and easy to 'format' using the tools setting in the camera menu. After ensuring the battery had a full charge, I snapped some quick basic photos, then inserted the memory card into my PC memory slot. My PC immediately recognized the memory card, and from there, I was able to import all the photos into my photo program. NOTE: If you are contemplating purchasing this camera, be sure you get all the required items needed to transfer your photos from the camera to your PC. The camera DOES NOT come with any cables to connect to your PC. If your PC does not have a memory card slot, then you'll need to purchase a USB style memory card reader to attach to your PC to transfer photos. Also...this camera DOES NOT come with a memory card. You will need to purchase your desired GB size separately. Also, this camera takes the normal size memory card, NOT the mini-memory card. However, if you already have a 'mini-memory card', then you'll still need to purchase the adapter to use your mini-card in the camera. CAMERA: As mentioned above, this camera is small and very portable. I wanted something simple and easy to use, and to carry with me wherever I go. This camera meets all the criteria. The menu for setup is very easy to use and understand. Choose your settings and start taking photos. I have the auto flash set, so I don't have to stop and turn it on. The camera will automatically use the flash (or not), depending on the environmental lighting. The viewing monitor is excellent and easy to see what you're photographing. It displays the battery charge and other settings you've made. It's also simple and easy to review any photos taken...just by a push of a button. The only drawback I have is; you have to 'delete' any photos one at a time from the memory card while it is in the camera. If there is a way to delete 'all' the photos on the card at the same time, I have yet to discover that. I've tried to delete all the photos on the card while it is in the PC slot, and after I've imported them, but again, didn't see where I could conduct a mass deletion from the card. I'll update this if I find a way to do it. UPDATE: Deleting Photos On The Photo Card: While the card is in the camera, one can go to 'menu', 'tools' and scroll to 'format'. If you reformat the card, it will erase everything on it. However, an easier way is to put the card into the PC slot (or any other external slot platform) and delete all photos on the card/disk. Once I have transferred all my photos to the PC, I then click and open up the card icon on the desktop. Once that is open, it will show a "DCMI" folder. Right click on that and select "move to trash" or "delete". I select "move to trash" on my IMAC. Once that is done, I close the icon folder and then right click and select "eject". I then can safely remove my card and place it back into the camera. VIDEO: I have not tried taking any video at this time; however, that too is a simple and easy activation just by pushing a button. That's what I like about this camera...everything that needs to be done is by easy access buttons. I know that all I have to do is; turn on the camera, and then push the 'record' button, and video taking commences. It's that simple. BATTERY: It took about 30 - 45 minutes to put a full charge on the battery with the included battery charger. That's pretty quick, imho. I may purchase an extra battery so as to have one ready to go all the time and to use while the other is charging. At this time, I do not know exactly how long the battery will last between charges, but I'm sure it's dependent on how much use and how many photos are taken. YMMV The battery is easy to access and to take out or put in. One just needs to take their time in doing so and not rush the process, so as not to damage the battery or little 'tab' at the slot. The memory card goes in the same area as the battery, just in a different slot, which is again, simple and easy. Overall, I am very happy I got this camera. For the price point, it meets every need I have in taking specific photos in general. If you're looking for a camera to do "professional" photography, this camera is probably NOT the camera for you. This is more of a "ready to go" camera for basic photography & video, albeit, the photos I've taken thus far have turned out GREAT. If you have a young teenager who is looking for a 'starter' camera, this would be perfect for them. Hope this helps others in making an informed decision whether to purchase this camera, or not. ... show more

  • Great Pictures and I have NO PHOTOGRAPHY skills!
Color: Silver Style: Base
I bought this camera several years ago to take to a wedding. The camera on my phone distorts images, so not good for photos you want to print. I have no photography skills at all, so I needed something VERY easy to use and I rely completely on the AUTO feature. A child could use this, so it was perfect for me! I took this camera out yesterday to take pictures after our ice storm. I can't believe the clarity, even when I cropped them down considerably and had large prints made. My only complaint is the screen. When taking pictures outside, both the preview and looking at the picture after you took it are not clear on the screen. So, until I see them on the computer, I don't really know what I've captured. That said, the images I do capture were always wonderful. Also, the battery lasts a really really long time, unlike a previous camera I had. Very happy with this camera. ... show more

  • a marvelously cheap camera for basic needs
Color: Red Style: Base
this wont blow your sox off with bells n whistles, in-camera abilities for filters, etc. but, as a tiny, solid pocket camera, its great.. size is very small, but still big enough to not "miss-hit" buttons color rendition, clarity, autofocus, quality choices for photos.. its a great little camera. i would recommend this to anyone needing a spare that takes up almost no room, or just want to get away with as little money invested, for a travel camera. i have a Nikon D7500, had a Canon and Samsung travel and super zoom cameras, along with a couple dozen others along the way. i got this strictly to have as a tiny, unobtrusive yet easy to use " point and shoot" with a modest zoom, decent pixels for quality, and basic options. its more of a 5 star choice, given its price point. i only rate it 4 stars, as it does lack a fair amount of features, which i know is kind of hypocritical since thats the POINT of it being cheap, but want people to know if you can get BY with modest features, this is a really good choice for a pocket travel camera. and any pocket will do,, its about the size of 6 credit cards stacked together.. maybe less..~!! ... show more
