abunda_amazon_reviews IMO, possibly the best lens Canon has ever made. I have owned every version of this lens and all the f/2.8 versions as well. The increase in IS is very obvious instantly. New Canon feature that I first noticed on the EF 35/2 IS lens - there is a lock button in the hood. Makes sure the hood does not turn or accidently fall off. Great idea. Closer MFD is nice as well. What is not to like except some may complain about the money. Worth every penny !!!! I have been a professional photographer for over 40 years. I have shot with over 500 different lenses. Classics to modern. I say again, perhaps the best ever Canon lens which is indeed saying something.;;Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2018;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;WOW and then WOW;;Gene A. Staver;;;Received my new Canon EF 70mm-200mm F/4L USM II lens today from Amazon. Fast shipping and well packed. The lens has a solid feel, everything is smooth when zooming and focusing. The newer, more white color, is very nice and matches my Canon 6D well. I sold my f/2.8L version of this lens due to the weight of it. After 4 years of using it, my shoulders and neck started to feel the pain. This F4 version is perfect, and lightweight. The lens hood is nice, and I believe it should have come with a tripod collar, but Canon seems to want to charge us extra for it. The lens comes with a nice soft case as well. Looking forward to continuing to do my youth sports photos, and general photography with this new lightweight alternative. I had the previous version and I liked it a lot, but this one is perfection. It might be Canon’s best telephoto. I don’t like any of my other lenses anymore. They all feel soft compared to this one.;;Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2018;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Perfection;;Andy757;;;Finally stepped up my game and sprung for some Canon L glass with a fixed aperture through the range. I absolutely love this thing. Durable, quality, metal construction. Pics have been crystal clear. Bokeh is superb. The different levels of IS and the options for autofocus (far away only or autofocus through the whole range) are helpful. The only gripe, and you will see this everywhere, is that the tripod collar is not only not included, but it's expensive to buy in it's own right. That is a terrible miss by Canon - most competitor lenses have the tripod mount ring included. That being said, I have been carrying this lens on my camera as my primary lens since I bought it, and I find it highly versatile. I use it on an APSC sensor, so the true reach is 112-320mm. That's serious telephoto capability compared to much larger 300-400mm+ lenses that are much heavier and bulkier. Overall, VERY pleased and I definitely recommend this lens!;;Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2019;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Fantastic lens, game changer if you do not have a medium tele;;Jeff;;;Pretty bummed out that the picture is not actually what you get. Guess I'll have to read the fine details next time, however you shouldnt advertise it with a mount ring when it doesnt come with one. I upgraded to this lens from the first version of the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 USM Lens that I bought in 2012. A new feature that I have really made use of on this lens is Mode 3 on the stabilizer mode options. Mode 3 turns on the stabilizer when the shutter is released, and is intended to be used for erratic movement. I photograph birds and insects a lot, and Mode 3 works especially well with hummingbirds that hover, but constantly move one way or the other to get just outside of the view of the lens, bats and flying insects. The 5 stop stabilization is excellent for really low light situations, and I find it works great for getting clear photos of nocturnal animals like bats, owls and porcupines in the low gray light at dusk that are too far away for a flash. This lens also has a closer minimum focus than it's predecessor. With the sharpness and clarity this lens offers I can often get macro like detail. The lens is very lightweight and durable, which makes it a great choice for travel.;;Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2018;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;The 5 stop stabilization is excellent for really low light situations;;Timothy Price;;;Very sharp lens with amazing image stabilization.
