  • Check the oil level thoroughly upon delivery and research amount to put in.
Size: 250 cubic cm
I haven't been able to use this product yet because I just had another brand new engine installed. Upon delivery there is a tag that warns the owner that the product "may or may not" be shipped without oil. You should assume, 'NOT'. The instructions don't tell you how much oil is supposed to go into this engine. At this point I would rather have put too much oil in than not enough. So, we started it up with half of the provided container of oil in the engine and it ran for 2 minutes and seized. $600 later for a new engine (not covered by warranty) we learned our lesson. Ask someone else about Briggs & Stratton engine care because the instructions are inadequate. I hope you learn from our mistake and it doesn't cost you like it did me. ... show more

  • Update. Company Doesn't Honor Warranty.
Size: 250 cubic cm
I've had good luck with Briggs and Stratton engines in the past but this machine has been a big problem. The engine seized up after about 20 seconds of initial operation. I had it repaired by an authorized dealer but the engine again seized up after about 10 minutes of use after the repair. Amazon won't refund because it is past the "return window" so I'm stuck with this lemon. DO NOT PURCHASE!! UPDATE: Briggs and Stratton won't honor their warranty! This has been a nightmare. After 40 years of loving this brand, I now wish they go bankrupt. ... show more

  • Before it has been tested
The unboxing of this product was a heart breaker. Oil everywhere. So many questions as to what condition the snowblower is in course through my mind during what is supposed to be an exciting moment. What a shame. Sift through and inspect everything as piece by piece they are laid out before me. Oil is all I see so maybe with a good clean up and a fluid change I will get lucky. Many parts individually wrapped and layer after layer, yes it is just oil. Nothing scratched or mangled. Whew! Now, a man has a tendency to either enjoy the assembly of his new gadgets or he is a bear thats been taken from his slumber and is ready to tear into anything that gets near him. Thankfully, the warden was doing her womanly chores in town and the rodents were at school so it was just me and the poor dog. Forgive me father but luckily his reflexes are superior to mine so he is just fine. Anyway, the directions were simple enough to follow if you take that route. But, if you are like me and dive right in out of pure extacy for the build, well backtracking your steps might be necessary. They were for me. No big deal just a step or two but it slowed the process just a smidge. About two thirds of the way into the assembly, admiration at not only the quality of craftsmanship, but my attention to detail comes to a screeching halt when I notice some funkery. All the censored words and glares in the direction of my poor pooch were enough for the neighbors to venture back into their humble dwellings. Didn't like em watching me anyway. No, the oil was not the only issue. With a closer inspection this far into the project and a sinking in my gut I was perturbed enough to start drinking at 9:00 a.m....I was a good boy though thank you very much. The lower frame rail (pre-assembled btw) was a bit caddy wompy. Surely this is a optical dillusion. No! Sure as spitfire the doggone thing is bent just enough for the handles to be crooked as Hillary. But I press on. Who cares! Who will notice anyway...my ever growing headache is who. The shute slips on almost correctly. Can't bolt the (explicit narrative) down because of the (first full line of censored words) I stumbled across just moments before that made my dog and neighbors tuck tail. Pounding headache at this point turns into a desire to get my hands on the puke that boxed my expensive boat anchor. Why didn't I just start drinking when I first felt the notion. Phone. That's the answer. Get these worthless cockle burs on the line and give them an ear full of censorship! So I polity explain my situation in great detail to the Briggs N Stratton customer representative.... The warden starts texting! Timing is not her thing ok. So I am very short with my response to her so maybe she will get the point. Yeah. NO! So anyway, customer service is an elderly woman whom I am certain has an adorable family BUT has absolutely no Idea how to assist me. Stick to crocheting scarfs dear while the aroma of turkey in the oven creeps its way into your oxygen mask. She is useless to me. I could hear the finger strokes on the keyboard over the slow wheezing as she inhaled and exhaled and every bit of patience left me at that moment. My headache sounds like the punk neighbors music right now. Boom boom boom is all I am left with. After 35 minutes on the phone, I finally have them shipping the damaged goods to me. So after the 3 weeks it took from my initial order with Amazon for my stuff to arrive. I get the excitement of waiting again AND fixing what should have been right when it left their facility. I want to point out this is none of Amazons doing. All Briggs N Stratton. It's a shame if you ask me. ... show more

Didn't run well out of the box , broke second use(ran 10' of 3" snow then stopped working). Not as powerful as you would think compared to my 20 year old model with 1/2 the horsepower. Amazon will not refund full price because 8 months expired between uses(snow). DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT

  • Good, solid, easvy-to-navigate snow blower.
Size: 250 cubic cm
I just replaced my 20-year-old snow blower with this model. I like the trigger features on the right and left handles that permit easy turns at the end of the drive. Easy to follow start controls. The handles are heated and there is a headlight. Nice touches. The assembly instructions that accompanied the blower were incomprehensible but Briggs & Stratton were smart enough to post a YouTube instructional video that made assembly a breeze. Delivery was well within the time range. The deliverymen placed the 200+ lb box in my garage. They were very courteous and helpful. Not happy that less than a week after delivery, Amazon dropped the price by 15%. ... show more

  • At First Thought
Size: 250 cubic cm
Bought this in the summer, just used up here in the Northwoods of Wisconsin after our first snowstorm, at first it was very difficult to use, I was thinking this is a piece of Junk, wife didn't notice while I was using that only 0ne auger was turning, then she tried it and I noticed only one was turning, turns out the auger pin was missing. I temporarily used a bolt I had and this baby pushed/throws with ease. It threw over 14" of heavy snow easily. It takes a while to master the controls but once that's mastered this snow thrower is excellent. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Great Snowblower, Would Recommend.
Size: 250 cubic cm
This is a great snowblower with no shortcomings. Over the last 25 years I've had four 2 stage snow blowers. The first 2 were John Deere brand. My first John Deere had a carburetor which had to be rebuilt 3 times. I traded it when it needed a 3rd rebuild. The 2nd John Deere had a shute that never stayed put so I had to hold it all the time. My 3rd snowblower was my first Briggs and Stratton snowblower which really impressed me. Everything worked well on it. I actually bought it for a cabin. I liked it so much I bought a 2nd Briggs and Stratton snowblower for home to replace my last John Deere snowblower. My 2nd Briggs and Stratton snowblower is pretty sweet. The shute stays put. The handgrips are warm. It has triggers steer. It also throws snow better than my John Deere blower thanks to a better shute. ... show more
