  • nice design, good power
Style: Screwdriver
A small, powerful electric screwdriver. It isn't the smallest I've seen, but the unit is sturdy enough to allow me to apply some pressure. The trigger is comfortable to hold for extended use. And B&D have solved a couple of basic, vexing issues with these tools: a place to store the bits on the unit (hooray for not having to remember *where* you stored those bits), and a magnetic spot to hold the a screw or two. So much better than "in my pocket". As for those bits? They look just like the ones from my full-sized B&D drill, and as a major bonus they include hex, square, and star bits-- I can't wait to tackle my next IKEA project with this baby instead of a stupid miniature hex wrench that leaves my hand cramped after the 40th screw (not exaggerating). The internal battery is a 4V li-ion, which type are the most forgiving rechargeable batteries on the market currently, and also safe to throw in the trash when the unit reaches its end of life (although you should turn in the device or at least the battery for recycling if possible). As for why you'd want one of these, instead of just using your cordless drill? My original reason was being able to get into smaller spaces, and not having to worry about stripping screws (or damaging the material) with a too-powerful device. But now that I've compared them directly? The screwdriver weighs 1/3 what the drill (w/ battery) does-- 15oz vs 2lb 10oz. A huge difference for the home user. Also see my photos comparing this screwdriver to my Black & Decker LDX120C. One negative, is the complete lack of a charging light or battery capacity light. You can't tell it's charging, or when it's done charging, or how fast it's charging, or how much battery is left. Battery gauges are found on even the cheapest USB battery packs, and integrating a simple red/green LED on the power adapter (instead of the drill) should be child's play for B&D engineers. I find the omission on such a mature product quite perplexing, but not enough to mark down my rating. This isn't the lightest or cheapest electric screwdriver on the market, but it feels substantial, has an integrated battery, and still weighs only 1/3 as much as a modest cordless drill. • I told my husband it was specifically made for LADIES! lol
Style: Screwdriver
Ugh, my husband is the worst when it comes to tools, they never go back where they came from, he always has them in random drawers all over the house, screwdrivers in with my knives, wrenches in his nightstand. I just needed a small electric drill / screw driver for small household tasks. No sooner did I get it out of the box, my husband's got his hands all over it, "Oh, look, it has a light!" "Do you need anything tightened?" "I think this bit will fit my other drill, can I take it to my shop?" I told him sure if he wanted to be laughed at, go ahead, that it was specifically made for girls, lol. Let see if that works. Great, tool, very compact, decent power, long advertised battery life, and in general the perfect ittle household tool. I'm very happy, or will be if I can still find it tomorrow. P.S. I was just being funny, of course this is not just for girls. ... show more

  • This is a perfect tool to DIY projects
Style: Screwdriver
Black and decker might not be considered one of the top tools as far as quality but no worries here. Obviously this thing does not have as much torque as a drill but it gets small jobs done. This is a perfect tool to DIY projects , putting cabinetry together or just regular small jobs in and around the house. It comes with standard bit sets Phillips, flat head etc. what's makes this thing stand out is the storage mechanism that houses the bits so you don't have to worry about losing them. In final this tool works and gets the job done. It's a good bargain for the price. Definitely recommend having this tool in your tool set. • First electric screwdriver I owned, why did I wait so long???
Style: Screwdriver
Bought this screwdriver with the expressed intent to use it assembly our new Ikea kitchen cabinets. I have a battery powered drill that I've relied on for the past decade for DIY projects around the house, and figured it was overkill and it was time to buy an electric screwdriver. Lo and Behold, Amazon had a package deal for this Black and Decker screwdriver and bit set (I am up to my ears in screwdriver bits...Phillips, JIS, Pozidriv, etc.), but figured that it was cheaper to get the package than jsut the drill itself, so made the purchase! The screwdriver works great, and there's an LED light to help light up where you are driving... The only drawbacks I can see is that there is no "lag" in the trigger between when the LED lights up and when the driver turns on. My drill has this, so I can half-depress the trigger to turn on the LED, insert the bit into the screw, then start driving. With this one, the light turns on at the same time as when it starts to rotate. The other drawback is that it is not speed sensitive like my drill. It is one speed and either on or off when you pull the trigger. This makes it hard to fine-tune how tight you tighten a screw, however the torque (non-adjustable) seems to be set low, so I haven't "overdriven" a screw yet (which is easy to do with Pozidriv or JIS fasteners and bits). Other than that, for the package price, this was a good purchase. ... show more

  • Does the job but has proprietary cord and is a tad large.
Style: Screwdriver
We bought three drivers at the same price point. This one, the SKIL SD561801 and the Greenworks SD4B200. This is the largest of the three, and ranks in the middle. It works decently, but the proprietary cord is bogus. The SKIL has a micro usb port and can be charged from any USB power source. The Greenworks uses a common DC plug. The rotating bit holder is fancy schmancy but not really necessary. We'll use this, but will reach for the SKIL first. ... show more
