  • It is a strong machine / motor.
Just can't say enough on how much I like it; It is a brute. Churns up hard settled ground, actually compacted ground. Had lots of roots that ran through the to be vegetable garden at the time. Many roots were big around as an adult's thumb. A couple of times the roots were quite long and would wrap around the tiller blades, no worries, the machine stopped and of course I disconnected the drop cord and unwound it. I already had a heavy amp drop cord, because I almost ruined my chain saw thought it had burned up. What I found out (researched it) is that the 16 amp drop cords loose power at intervals of so many feet, forget, think (?) every 25 feet. It was the drop cord that burned and melted and not the C.S. Thank goodness I did not just throw it away but I took a chance and plugged the C.S. directly into the wall socket and it worked, yeah ... show more

  • A good little special purpose tiller
Assembly time was 30 minutes ... not too bad ... no parts missing and assembly should present no problems if you've ever assembled anything before. This tiller in no way can be compared to a large rear tine tiller. I just have a few small flower and veggie beds I have been preparing by hand (shovel and hoe). Before using the tiller on my beds I turned them with a shovel first ... then a few weeks later used the tiller to pulverize the soil and work in some compost and fertilizer. Of course to me, a 5 star rating means the machine will be dependable for years ... and I have discovered the most of today's manufactured goods just are not as reliable as what we used to get ... back in the "good ol' days". Hopefully I don't have to change from 5 star to 1 star anytime soon! ... show more

  • Read the instructions
Read instructions in a few minutes (should have taken longer) Had to take one handle off in order to get the cable clamp on. Handles are somewhat tight for weak hands to tighten. Handle adjustment works, but seems to be useless as one should take several one-inch deep cuts for best performance in very hard soil. Dug a 16" wide, 4" deep, 35 foot long trench in four passes over 30-minutes. Trench is for small walkway, and to be filled with concrete with tile dรฉcor. Saved days of hand-digging, sweat-producing work. Machine is as advertised, light weight, very tough on hard-packed dirt, and is worth the price. It is according to Bilt Hard a new product, thus not too many reviews. It is made in China, what isn't these days. The cutting blades are Magnesium Hardened Steel. Job for which it was purchased is done, but it will be put to more test later in the spring when I did up the entire back yard for new planting. ... show more

  • So glad I bought it!
We needed to turn over some hard clay soil for some hedges and flowers my wife wanted around a new backyard deck. We rented a tiller from a local rental yard for $75.00 a day. I spent half a day trying to figure out why the darn thing wouldnโ€™t run, and the rest of the day tilling five minutes at a time. Thatโ€™s how long it would run. I got a refund on the rental, and decided to give this little gem a shot. Four days after I ordered it, I was happily tilling away. It took literally 10 minutes to assemble it, and five minutes to get my heavy extension cord set up. I then tilled more ground in 30 minutes than I had all day with the gas monster. Having to keep up with the extension cord is a little annoying, but itโ€™s not a big problem once you get into a routine. Itโ€™s not self propelled, so I think working a large tract would be problematic, but for gardening, planting, etc., itโ€™s just about perfect. ... show more

  • Very impressed!
This little tiller is a beast! After putting it together and looking at it, I wasnโ€™t expecting very much. Kept all the packaging very handy as I thought Iโ€™d b packing it back up within the hour. To my surprise, this little thing is a work horse! Donโ€™t get me wrong, u wouldnโ€™t want to till up a quarter acre garden with it, but for my 20โ€™x30โ€™ garden, it took about 2 hours to an 8โ€ depth! Perfect for small gardens or churning up ur raised beds. Very light and easy to move around. Word of warning! DO NOT get to close to fencing! I did and it ran right up it! Took about 20 minutes to cut the fence out of the tines but had no ill effect on it. Highly recommend ... show more

  • mad I didn't buy it sooner
Had a couple of projects I was going to need a tiller for this season, so I bought this for the same price I was going to pay renting one twice from HD, and not have to mess with gas - wins. Bought based on reviews, completely agree. Light, easy to assemble (note the cable clips), does a great job busting up our clayish soil, just have to watch for things getting wrapped up (vines, etc) and rocks like any other tiller. Wish it had a variable speed trigger, but for the price, it's perfect and does the job, assuming it lasts, but it feels and operates solidly. Made quick work of breaking up an 8x8 pad to level out, and doing a flower bed turn next. Wish I would have had it last season now. ... show more
