  • I hate helmets. I don’t hate this one.
Color: Black
I hate wearing helmets. I’m an adult, and if I want to suffer a traumatic brain injury, well that’s my God given right. But, that being said, the love of my life is very safety conscious. And she asked me to get a helmet. And I mean, look at how beautiful she is? What am I gonna tell her, no? So I sucked up my pride and ordered this helmet. And guess what? I dig it! A lot. It’s super comfortable and lightweight. It’s not bulky and the straps are non-intrusive. And it’s a slick matte black so I don’t look like a six year old while wearing it. Added bonus, there is a quality light on the back for some safe riding at dusk. I mean, not that I want to be safe! Just that, you know… I’ll do it for my girlfriend. ... show more

  • Excellent Fit, Quality, Safety, Value
Color: White
This is a great helmet and I'll tell you why. And, I'm not easy to impress. Read on: *Packaging*: This is great, the helmet comes with a draw-string storage bag. I really like this. When I just store others in the garage without a bag, they go on my head with days/weeks/months of dust and an occasional cob-web. This helmet will live in its bag and be protected, nice! The helmet is also wrapped in bubble wrap inside the storage bag upon arrival. This is great because theoretically once a helmet receives a significant shock, it's supposed to be discarded and replaced. So, if this one took a strong shock during shipping, it's extra protected in the bubble wrap, nice touch. *Fit*: the head circumference fit is easily adjustable with one hand using the adjustment wheel on the back. It's very cool that the back "webbing" is adjustable up and down as well, it makes the helmet fit to your head very evenly. See the 2 rear photos below (one with rear-web up and one down). The chin strap is easily adjustable using the standard size-adjustment under the chin, it's actually easier than most. I really like the comfort band around the straps, very comfortable. I also like all the air venting allowing your head and scalp to breathe when you're really working up a sweat. *Quality*: The quality seems excellent. The shell is extremely durable feeling (attempted to crush the shell by squeezing it hard and it didn't budge, no creaks or cracks), much more sturdy than others I've owned. The foam inside is thick and dense. It seems that it would absorb a significant shock (from asphalt or rock) very well and provide strong protection. I wasn't willing to crash my mountain bike off the cliff and land on my head to test it, sorry folks :-) But, from all appearances and lots of experience, it seems this helmet would hold up very well. I really like the internal padding strips, I've never seen them like this. Basically the entire back of all the padded strips are Velcro. Then, there are strategically placed Velcro dots mounted permanently to the inside of the helmet for the strips to mount to. This makes the padding easily removed or adjusted if necessary. This is a good design. The LED lights in the back are either off, on or blink. They are bright and add a really nice safety feature. You have to push pretty hard on the light lens itself to get it to turn on/off. While it works great now, hopefully that clear lens never breaks or the light may not go on/off anymore - I wasn't willing to break it to find out. Maybe a switch on the inside would be a better design. Course, it hasn't broken, so I can't say. It works great for now and I appreciate the added safety feature. I wonder how you change the battery? Hmmm. I'll ask the manufacturer, they seem very responsive. *Safety*: the helmet contains CPSC labeling on it - "The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission is an independent agency of the United States government. The CPSC seeks to promote the safety of consumer products by addressing "unreasonable risks" of injury; developing uniform safety standards; and conducting research into product-related illness and injury." The helmet also contains a label for "EN 1078" - "EN 1078, entitled Helmets for pedal cyclists and for users of skateboards and roller skates, is a European standard published in 1997.....specifies requirements and test methods for bicycle helmets, skateboard and roller skate helmets. It covers helmet construction including field of vision, shock absorbing properties, retention system properties including chin strap and fastening devices, as well as marking and information." If these are all legitimate certifications of this helmet, as they appear to be, this is very good for us as consumers. *Value*: The booklet says they offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee (see picture), that's hard to beat. Overall, for this price, this is an excellent helmet. Again, I haven't crashed while wearing it (thank goodness), but if I do, from all signs and my riding experience, this helmet will protect me well. Would I recommend you buy it? Based on the legitimacy of the certifications, yes, I definitely would! ... show more

  • This helmet saved me!
Color: Black
I was hit head on by a driver of an SUV! Full head on face plant into a windshield and this helmet was a wonder! Yes I had a concussion, yes I had bruising and cuts to my face, but this helmet was awesome and served it’s purpose well! It protected my head and much of my face from a much worse outcome. It’s light, and fits well, with full adjustments for head size and shape. I’m buying another one! ... show more

  • Style, Comfort and Safety all in One!
Color: White
The overall design of the helmet is very good. It fits and feels just as good as a high-end helmet that costs significantly more. I bought the matte white version to match my bicycle frame. It looks a lot nicer in real life than in the pictures. The built in safety light at the back was a huge factor in my decision making. I have a safety lights on my bike, but the additional light at the back of the helmet is way more effective. I also like that the light has 2 modes (steady/solid light or flashing). The light is detachable, but I don't foresee any need for me to do so. ... show more

  • Probably will save your head, and doubles as birth control
Color: Black
So the helmet itself is alright. The adjustments are solid and it fits comfortable. It does loosen up over time (I think) but I've been cycling a ton and losing weight too, so I might just be shrinking. It should protect your head adequately in a fall. The light is an OK addition, but not great. It is really, really dim in daylight, so if you want an extra measure of safety, look into a bike-mounted LED light instead. At night it should be fine, and it is convenient to be able to reach around and turn it on while riding. I just wouldn't rely on it to provide any additional daytime visibility. If you are riding roads, find a better option. Also, the battery is changed by removing teeny, tiny, hard-to-reach screws inside the helmet. One of them is at an odd angle and requires considerable fidgeting with a jeweler's screwdriver to access. I have only had to change batteries once so far, but it took a lot longer than it should have. As far as looks? Ugh... this helmet is bulky and bulbous on top, making you look kind-of like Squidworth from the Spongebob cartoon. If riding around in public in a pair of tights isn't bad enough, you add this monstrosity to it. I'm old enough to put aside my pride for the sake of safety and being alive to finish raising my kids, but wearing this thing definitely decreases my chances of producing any more of them. I described it during one of my last rides as, "The dorkiest helmet ever," and all I got in response were some sad, sympathetic nods and a mumbled, "Yeah, it really is." It reminds me a lot of an equestrian schooling helmet, which is something I actually *might* consider using it for... throw it in the locker and if a guest ever wants to ride with me, they can wear it. Overall, considering some higher-quality and MUCH better looking alternatives are available for not much more, I'd say the value just isn't there. The light is gimmicky unless you are riding in unlit caves, and it takes quite a bit of self-worth to wear this without suffering minor emotional trauma. ... show more
