Description

When we set out to design our 2nd generation electric standing desk - the Vortex Series, we have two main things on our mind. stability - our 1St generation Apex Series desk has won wide acclaim as one of the most stable desks in the market. We want to take a step further and make it more stable. All standing desk in the market wobbles somewhat at standing Height. Crossbar is often used to stabilize the desk. But it takes away some Leg room and the flexibility of adding an exercise bike/treadmill by some users. We want ours to be free of crossbar. After many experiments, we have come up with an unique solution by adding a bearing that synchronizes with desk movement to improve stability between sections. We have also added anti-collision function -- The desk stops automatically if its movement is obstructed. look - Standing desks are long on functionality but short on aesthetics. They all look alike - a top over two lifting columns. We are yet to break away From that norm. But we have made ours stand out from the crowd by using brushed aluminum rather than steel, and using black/silver colors rather than one solid color for our underframe. The rounded corners of the top go perfectly with the round lifting columns of the underframe. The end result is quite remarkable - a 30% lighter and 30% more stable desk that looks amazing.

abunda_amazon_reviews The Vortex Series 60-in Electric Desk in Cherry is a rare find. 100s of dollars cheaper than other electronic desks, but without sacrificing much by way of quality. It was well-packaged with plenty of protection, and the instructions were well done. They even labeled each of the bags of hardware according to what portion of the desk they went to. Overall very sturdy and nice-looking. It's important to remember that you are getting an electronic desk that is significantly cheaper than the vast majority of its competition. So there will be some minor weaknesses to be aware of. I've summarized my thoughts below. PROs: - Well-built for the price - Nice finish options - *Easy to assemble (once you have the right hardware) - Clear instructions, labeled hardware bags - Great customer support (you get a real person immediately when you call) CONs: - *Washers that attach the desk itself to the upper beam are too small. They barely span the width of the gap the bolt goes through, and some were popping through as a tightened them. I would strongly advise taking one of the washers to the hardware store and buying eight (8) washers with the same inside diameter, but an outside diameter at least 3/16" BIGGER than the original washer. Otherwise when you go to move the desk you may cause permanent damage. (see video review) - *The instructions say when attaching the legs to the beam, to "please note the marking R and L on the beam and legs". I looked and looked, there were NO markings, stickers, nothing on the legs. I was worried about this and called customer service, who said there should be stickers, but that it wasn't an issue because the legs are universal- as long as the T-shaped metal top of the leg has the bottom of the T facing inward. (see video review) - The switch to move the desk up and down is very cheaply made compared to other electronic desks I've owned. Shouldn't be an issue. It also doesn't really define which way is up or down, and can be installed either way. I had to reinstall mine as it was upside down the first time. - I wish the desk could go a few inches higher. I'm 6" and end up slightly hunched over at max height. - Lift and Lower time is a bit slow - Slightly wobbly, despite being on hard ground. Likely no risk of tipping, but my monitors wobble a little when I type a lot. A cross bar or better leg to foot connection would probably fix this. Despite the few minor flaws, this is really a great desk- especially for the price. If you're on a budget and looking to spend
