abunda_amazon_reviews short and sweet: the plug end for the foot attachment is glued in, with a punch in the side for some friction, but it's not pinned, bolted or held with a set screw. i just found this out only a few weeks after receiving it; as i was removing the rubber foot to replace it with the metal stake, i heard and felt a "crack," and the plug came out in my hand. be careful when changing the foot and never tighten it more than finger tight or you break the plug. i thought this was an example of a great deal but, as always, became evidence that if it sounds too good to be true, it is.;;Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2018;;1.0 out of 5 stars;;irreparably broken within weeks and upon closer inspection it was obvious why.;;oakie;;;This is really a four-star product, that gets an extra star for value. I thought I was going to love it - very lightweight - compact - and I thought one's as good as another. The heaviest kit I'm putting onto it at this point is a Nikon 200-500 lens with a prosumer dSLR and grip so maybe 10ish pounds +/-. The only thing preventing this from getting 5 stars is the mag that came with it is so form fitting that the monopod won't fit in with an Arca-Swiss QR plate attached and I also question how the plastic compression rings that tension the sections will hold up over time especially if they end up in a dirty environment from wildlife shooting. I'll update if there're problems. Added 10/17/2017 After 6 months or so of relatively light use the tightening rings are becoming difficult to work with and the sections no longer extend and collapse easily. Doesn't feel like there is any sand or dirt in the monopod so not sure there is any cleaning that could be done.;;Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2017;;3.0 out of 5 stars;;Not holding up well;;Bob;;;Pleasantly surprised by this monopod. I have a Really Right Stuff tripod and was looking for a monopod to use with the Sony a7rIII and 100-400 lens for kids' sports. Someone on a forum recommended this monopod and, for $50, it's a steal. Very light and folds down small enough to fit in my bag. The twist locks are slightly different from the RRS in that there is a point at which the locks release rather than being a smooth change in friction from turning them. You have to play with them a couple of times to get the hang of it. I screwed this directly into my 100-400 foot rather than using a QR clamp or buying a swivel head. Not sure either are necessary for my purposes. Shot lacrosse and baseball so far without fatigue and nailed some great shots.;;Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2018;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Great monopod at an incredible price;;E;;;I got this two years ago, have used it a bit shooting sports on grass and several days on the beach. It has held up reasonably well. The top section is about 32mm diameter, making this a series 3 monopod in Gitzo speak. Most of the cheap Chinese CF monopods are much thinner. Personally I think aluminum is a better choice for a monopod that gets heavy use. Carbon fiber monopods have glued fittings at the end, and on the cheaper products those joints are often poorly made. I had good luck with this one so far. This product has 3/8 fittings at both ends. the top thread (once you remove the top plate) is sunk about 14 mm, so if you want to use it you need to find hardware to support that. I now use mine as an extension on a tripod, as a lightweight light stand. under the presumption that I bring my tripod anyway, this creates a 7ft light stand at only 350 grams additional weight, and is sturdy enough to support an AD200. Great for overseas backpacker travel, or those portrait shoots on a day hike.;;Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2019;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;Best of the cheap;;Lars;;;I purchased to take on vacation to Guatemala and can report that this monopod has come through with flying colors.
