abunda_amazon_reviews Now that I’ve had these shoes for about a month, I’m redoing my review. One point to mention is that I have had several pairs of Altras and have always had to order a Half size or size larger than what I normally wear in other brands. These, are true to size, which is normally a good thing, but an inconvenience if you thought you knew which size Altra you wear, and now you have to return them to get a smaller size. Otherwise, these are pretty great Do-everything shoe. They are light considering that they actually have outsole rubber at all of the points where the sole of the shoe contacts the ground, so it seems like they have the potential to last longer than other light weight shoes that have you running on EVA foam. They have enough cushioning for long runs, but the cushioning still springs back fast enough that they don’t slow you down as if you a re wallowing in memory foam. My only complaint would have been that when I first started running in them, it felt like there may have been a little more stack height under forefoot than the heal, which in combination with the softness of the cushioning made it feel like my ankle wanted to role while pushing off. Don’t have that problem any more because I think my ankles have adapted and gotten stronger from being forced to stabilize my foot more, which is probably a good thing.;;Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2019;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Good all-purpose road shoe;;CoffeeSnob;;;Apparently when you purchase a new pair of Altra Escalante shoes and the inserts go bad and do the classic scrunch up (which they are notorious for) after only a few months of light use and ask customer support for new inserts they tell you that not only will they not give them to you, they don’t even make or stock them anymore!!! The cushion compressed so quickly, I soon felt as if I was running on concrete blocks and I began having severe calf cramping and muscle tightness while running. It got so bad, I struggled even being able to run 1-2mi. Despite this difficulty, I pushed through - stopping to stretch when I felt tight - and kept racking up the miles. After about 2-3mo. the sole had wore down enough that I had to get new shoes - wore out way too fast - so I went back to asics.;;Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2018;;2.0 out of 5 stars;;Fit great. I had always been frustrated by how quickly the midsole got pounded down. They seemed to go flat within 100 miles, and I'd grudgingly squeeze out 50 more before buying another pair. I was intrigued to see that people reported the Atra Ego midsole seemed to last much, much longer-- some reports say 300 to 400 miles. They also said the midsole was bouncier, and I thought yay! Bounce is good, right? After my first run, um, not so much. More bounce means more energy return. It just didn't work well with my mechanics. It felt like I'd just made contact with the ground and was waiting for my quads and stacked spine to absorb the impact, when sproing!!! the energy return from the midsole would kind of mess things up. My stride was off, I'm more sore, and just generally did not enjoy the run. The bounce is real, folks. If you're not ready for it, look for a different shoe.;;Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2019;;3.0 out of 5 stars;;Be sure you're ready for the bounce;;Hamstar
