abunda_amazon_reviews I'm extremely happy with this umbrella. It does a great job of shading my patio, which has southern and western exposure. A non-tilting style doesn't provide much shade after about 3pm, so I wanted one that tilted - and this one has a LOT of tilt range. Assembly was a snap with two people, but I probably could have done it myself if necessary. Overall it feels much better made than the umbrella it's replacing. Operation is smooth and confident. With proper care, I expect it to last a while. I followed the guidance of another reviewer and skipped using the included cross base; instead I set posts in concrete, built a little potting bench, then used U-bolts and spacers to attach it to the sturdy post. So far so good - it was breezy last night, and it held up fine. The solar light has worked great so far. It's a small automotive-style LED bulb, but it kicks out a decent amount of mood lighting. I strongly recommend this piece if you're looking for a high-quality tilting umbrella to shade a rectangular patio.;;August 26, 2019;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Fantastic versatile umbrella;;walrusman;;;I am in love with this patio umbrella! We went back and forth among a couple of others that were actually less expensive but in comparison, this one seemed to be the most appealing over all even though it was more expensive. The one thing I was really disappointed with was that the picture showed the umbrella base with the weight as if it was included by it wasn't. My understanding is that it is around an additional $70.00. I wish I had measured the base first but we solved the weight problem by going to Home Depot and bought four 16" - 46 lb. brick patio squares. Looks good and works great...AND way cheaper. I'm probably going to finish the extra space off with some decorative brick.;;July 3, 2017;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;What I expected!!;;Amazon Customer;;;Updating after using the umbrella for a month, supplementing the original first day review, so consider it accordingly. The umbrella was already up and in use only a few hours after delivery. Have upgraded rating from 4 to 5 stars. In addition to all the initial tips below, one more to add: Keep the assembly folded and covered all the time, except when actively in use. This practice protects the umbrella from damage if storm or higher winds come along. Using the bungee stick as described below it takes only a few minutes to uncover and open the umbrella, and then to re-fold and cover it back up at the end of the day. Also, consider keeping a small step stool nearby for shorter family members to be able to uncover and cover the unit. 1. A set of weights for the base is essential. Have them on hand before attempting to set up the umbrella. We found them locally, but if you cannot do that, order a set from Amazon. Be sure to have about 150 pounds of sand on hand to fill them if you order the sand-filled instead of the heavy resin version. 2. The box is 9 feet long and weighs 75 pounds. Signs on the box in several places say "TEAM LIFT" and they mean it. You should have three people move the box, or two people with a sturdy cart or hand truck. The FedEx driver and I were able to take it around to the backyard with my steel hand truck in 4-wheel cart mode. 3. Study the assembly instructions carefully before starting to work. They are simple pictures, but a few items are not obvious. For instance, the instructions do not tell you you must unscrew part F from the main pole to slide part B out, so you can bolt part B onto the cross leg base. Also, note that you need to slide the plastic baseplate cover part G onto the pole before setting it onto the base. 4. Two adults can set it up in about 20 minutes with minimum hassle. The only tools you need are a knife to open the box, and the Allen (hex) wrench that is included in the box. One adult can lift the entire umbrella, but it helps a lot for a second one to guide the main post onto the part B base. 5. Before adding the weights onto the base, consider the direction of sundown (west), and try to have the back of the post in that direction. That position will let you tilt the umbrella to block the setting sun. Overall construction and materials appear very good. We are pleased with the appearance, the sturdiness, and in particular with the ease of opening and closing using the crank, and tilting using the sliding handle. The included cover is an excellent touch. as shown as in the bottom illustration, it it easily over the entire umbrella and mast. The bungee-corded stick makes it easy to put it in place. Reviews of other patio umbrellas complained of wind damage to the umbrella. Using this cover should preclude any chance of that sort of damage.;;April 14, 2017;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Looks great, easy to set up.;;DCS;;;We've had our umbrella for over 6 weeks now. Delivery was timely and assembly was easy. My assembly took longer, because we dont have room for the stand and I got some blocks and U-bolts, and attached to my deck post. See pic for how I did it... works great and very sturdy. Fits our space perfectly and the sun sets in the direction that the tilt feature works like a charm. Very happy with the materials and functionality, but keep in mind that this is essentially a 9'x12' KITE with long aluminum arms, attached to a single post at one side of it, so dont expect to keep it up in winds much over 10-15mph. I'm not putting it to the test with anything higher, because it does start to twist up on one end and I'm not trying to break it! Also, so far, the fabric has provided mostly rain "resistance". It's not totally waterproof, because there are a few spots near the center where drips make it through, but all in all, it keeps 90% of what's under it dry. Light diffusion through the fabric during full sun is very pleasant as well.;;April 20, 2019;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Loving it so far!;;gretchen slaven;;;This is the perfect size deck umbrella and exactly what we were looking for. I had originally thought I could get the 11x11 but when I did an exact measurement, found that this was the size I should get and I’m glad I got this one, this fits perfectly. Instead of using the sand holders that we purchased along with this, hubby decided to permentaly anchor it directly to the deck and so glad he did. The square design is perfect for the square upper deck that we are using this for and the outdoor couch fits under it with no problems of getting wet from rain. It has already rained and the furniture stayed perfectly dry (other that getting damp from the windy rain, but still works great);;June 19, 2018;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Perfect size, keeps sun and rain off upper deck!;;DMS;;;The umbrella was surprisingly easy to assemble and looks great up! However, although I knew this umbrella didn’t come with a weighted base I still think it looks a little incomplete/cheap to be without one. I bolted mine to my deck so it’s more secure than the weights would’ve been, but I don’t care for the sight of the exposed base... Also, I’m deducting one star because the umbrella doesn’t rotate around like other comparably priced umbrellas do. It does tilt up/down, but not rotate in a circular direction which I’ve used with other umbrellas as the sun moves.;;November 23, 2018;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;Nice quality and great looking, but doesn’t rotate...;;big kev
