abunda_amazon_reviews When I got this controller I was so pleased with how cool it is. It feels great in your hands- so much better than a joycon controller. The buttons and analog sticks are all very responsive and nice. I have always hated the staggered analog stick layout that the Nintendo Switch has adopted so to have them side by side like on a Playstation's controller in their correct place is incredibly welcome, and the main reason I purchased the 8Bitdo SF30 Pro. The only gripe I have about the way the controller feels in hand is that it is a bit small- which is the design they're going for because the SNES controllers were also small (I wear a medium glove). Now. Why did I give this a 4 star rating? Pairing the device to my Switch. The reason I bought it. It worked for 3 or 4 days but one night I plugged it in to charge and the next day the controller just refuses to pair to my Switch. I've tried a myriad of things but for three days it would not connect to my switch then all of a sudden today it paired with no problems and it has done so a couple of different times today so I'm not sure what's going on. *Update- Changing 4 star to 1 star* Ok my SF30 Pro just stopped working altogether. Never mind it not connecting it doesn't charge, it doesn't turn on. I charged it one night and noticed that the green lights weren't on, the pairing button doesn't come on either. Save your money and buy an official switch pro controller is all I can suggest and I really hate to suggest this because the analog sticks on the official controller are staggered instead of side by side and that annoys me to no end- but having a controller that actually turns on and pairs with my console is going to edge out here. Hope this helps someone.;;Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2019;;1.0 out of 5 stars;;great controller with potentially finicky connectivity issues? *Update* Bricked.;;Tentacle Time;;;To start this review, this controller isn't perfect for one reason that later 8bitdo patch with a firmware update. The buttons and the d-pad fell great for playing platforms and the sticks feel like a combination between Xbox one and PS4 sticks. This controller I mostly use for the switch but I did use it on the PC to play emulator's and works great, just make sure you read the manual that it comes with to know how to connect it to several devices. The problem I had with the controller is that the rumble of the controller made so much noise and quickly began being annoying. 8bitdo fixed it but you need to download the update to a computer and then install it on the controller, it was rather easy and quick.;;Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2018;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;This controller is amazing;;Fabian;;;I bought the 8BitDo N30 to play on my modded NES classic (which can run SNES games). The big issue with this controller is the D-Pad. You get too many accidental diagonals. It's especially noticeable in platform games like Super Mario Bros. and fighting games like Mortal Kombat. I bought two of these controllers and both didn't work right, so I'm sure it's an universal problem. The D-Pad issues may not be a problem for most games, but there are better controllers out there. Let's talk about the 8Bitdo N30 2.4G. That one has a more premium feel to it compared to this N30. The D-Pad is perfect, almost as good as the original NES classic controller. If you have an NES classic like me, the N30 2.4G is a better option. The problem is that it doesn't have all the buttons for the SNES games. It does have turbo buttons, but they can't be mapped to add the X and Y. And of course, you also don't have the L and R. This N30 does have all the buttons, just like a SNES controller, but as I said, the D-Pad is the issue. The material of this controller is also not very good. It's certainly Ok for what it is, but the N30 2.4G has a more premium feel to it. I've tried the tape/hole reinforces on the sensors (search about it on google). That fix improves the D-Pad, but I've noticed buttons sometimes do not respond at all. When I say 'sometimes' I really mean it's rare, but with some of this games not being able to move where you want to can get you killed. I tested the tape/hole reinforcers with Pac-Man. I try to move up, down, right or left and it doesn't respond every now and then. But don't get me wrong, the tape/hole reinforcers vastly improve this D-Pad issue, but it's not perfect. The original NES classic controller and the 8BitDo N30 2.4G are great out of the box. No need to to crazy fixes with them. I've read online the 8Bitdo SN30 2.4G can be a great option for all the issues I've mentioned. And it works with the NES classic. I just bought the 8Bitdo N30 Pro 2 because I've also read that it doesn't have the same D-Pad issues. But let's go back to the controller I'm reviewing here. Here are all the pros and cons of the 8BitDo N30: Pros: - Has enough buttons to play NES and SNES games. - The ABXY buttons are good. - The L and R buttons are good. - While not great build quality, it's certainly OK. - It's wireless Cons: - Terrible D-Pad, too many accidental diagonals. - You have to open it and add tape or hole reinforcers to improve the D-Pad, and even that is not the perfect fix. - You have to buy the 8BitDo Retro Receiver to connect it to the NES classic or SNES classic (it's not included with the controller). - It's a bit hard to connect once you have the the Retro Receiver. I can pair them easily about 50 percent of the time. The rest of the time it's just blinking and they do not connect. Bottom line, if you're looking for a wireless controller for the NES classic and you're only going to play NES games, go with the N30 2.4G. You won't be disappointed. In my opinion, the N30 is not worth it.;;Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2019;;2.0 out of 5 stars;;D-Pad is not good;;Jesus A. Rodriguez;;;I just bought this several months ago. Quite a very good concept, but execution in quality control is poor. I can't recommend this anymore. Save your money and do not spend on this product, please.
