It is metallic thread (thin strip of metal foil twisted around a thread core), so stiff, fragile and fussy to work with, like all metallic threads. I use for embroidery. Tips: Cut short lengths Pull one strand out of bunch at a time and recombine if multiple strands to be used Gently draw across thread wax Use stitches that don’t go through fabric a lot (such as couching) Make sure needle big enough to make hole in fabric as big as thread to reduce drag I still had some strands fray and fall apart with first stitch, more than with more expensive brands, but a lot for price, so just replaced the damaged strands. This mix only has gold tones (they now have a mix that includes silver, would have been better). ... show more
