Description

Instantly convert your incandescent Maglites into a SUPER POWERED LED flashlight! Three Cree XPL-HI LED emitters and the Adventure Sport mosfet driver pound out up to 2,000 retina searing lumens (output of the bulbs is based on use of NIHM rechargeable cells). Alkaline cells will power the bulb up at a reduced output so are best used as backup). This bulb is for use with the voltage of 3 D cells ONLY. 3x NIMH cells are best, or one high drain 3.7 volt li-ion such as a 26650. USER INTERFACE: By default the bulb is set to have 3 levels of brightness, Low, Medium, High. To select the output mode half press the Maglite switch until the light comes on, quickly let off and half press the switch again. Each time you do so the bulb will change output. Once you find the brightness level you want fully "click" the switch into place. The bulb will memorize the last mode used and come on in that mode when you power it back on. You can see a video on how it works by searching Youtube for "Adventure Sport user interface". ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS: You can also reprogram the bulb to a very wide range of other brightness levels and mode groups. A full set of instructions on this is in the set of pictures above. HOW TO INSTALL: Start by unscrewing and removing the head of your Maglite flashlight. Next remove the factory reflector, bulb retaining ring and bulb from the switch tower (if you have the bi-pin bulb you can press down on the tower to eject the plastic bulb holder). Next remove the bezel and lens from the top of the Maglite head. Insert the 5000 lumen bulb into the head. Place the lens over the dropin and thread the bezel back down until snug. Screw the head back on to the maglite until it is just "snug" onto the body. TECHNICAL SUPPORT Please contact Matt at asflashlights@gmail.com

abunda_amazon_reviews I already have one of the Adventure Sport Flashlights floody drop-ins for my 2D Maglite, but now I’m trying out a straight up bulb swap on a 3D Maglite I’ve purchased. This time I’m running it off of some NIMH Tenergy D Cells instead of lithium ion- because why not? The drop-ins are super high quality all-in-one units, designed to be easily swapped in. As in- less than a minute with no tools required. As configured, the drop-in provides 3 modes of brightness, that you scroll through with half presses of the Maglite side switch. The swap is super easy. You’ll need: this drop-in, a 3D incandescent (mine is Model SS3D096) Maglite, and 3 high quality rechargeable D batteries. I used the Tenergy Premium D Size NIMH rechargeables. Regular alkaline or cheaper rechargeable D Cells will not provide adequate power. The steps are as follows: 1. Unscrew lens and the rind that holds it and set it aside. 2. Loosen head counter clockwise, but don’t remove it. 3. Remove the reflector. You no longer need it for the LED module. 4. Unscrew the small sleeve that holds the bulb in place. You will no longer use the bulb and sleeve. 5. Pop in the module, set the black ring on top of the module in the groove. 6. Put back on the lens and ring, by screwing them down. 7. Tighten down the head. 8. Put in freshly charged batteries. That’s it! The light is now modded, and much much brighter. You can keep the old bulb, bulb sleeve and reflector on hand for emergencies or if you’d like something a little easier on the batteries. Adventure Sport Flashlights is coming out with some conversion kits if you want to go lithium ion, but I like having a back up Maglight around the house that can run off rechargeable, or even alkaline or lithiums in an emergency. I have a lot of lights, but the Adventure Sport Maglites are two of my favorites. They always sit by the door ready to be used at night. If you need a charger recommendation that can handle up to 8 D-cells, check out the Maha PowerEx MH-C808M. I did a quick tutorial video on how to do the swap.
