I've used this to fish for probably 50 hours now and caught everything from small bait fish to game fish (all under 5 lbs) in freshwater lakes. I paired this reel with a Ugly Stik GX2 Casting Fishing Rod - 6'6", medium heavy power, moderate fast action rod. In my first takeout with this reel I was stunned at how smooth the cast was. It's absolutely silent when casting as the line glides out of the reel. When the line is loose, it still reels in smooth without tangles. The exception was only after many, many hours of fishing. Your line will bring in small amounts of muck and grime which builds up inside over time so it's important to take the reel off and apart and clean it well to extend the life of the reel (and of course change the line out). Installation on the Ugly Stick rod takes literally 20 seconds to take on and off. My only complaint is that the thumb grips are not going to last very long. They are a hard material but on the flat sides there are two pads glued on with adhesive that doesn't hold up over time. As soon as I noticed, I've covered them with SAMSFX Rubber Fishing Reel Handle Grip Sleeve Non-Slip Baitcaster Knob Covers for Casting or Spinning Reel. Great reel I gave it 4 stars because for the price they could improve by replacing all the cheap plastic parts especially on the casting button which is still cheap plastic and broken on the old bullet.

Total junk. I have proof that I have bought this 2 times already. I like how smooth the bullets are. I have 6. But after 5-6 trips the gears are skipping. Ordering a new one now and returning the old one This one i bought in August. Now returning. Nothing but junk I am a regular (not MG) that is skipping gears as well. Going to buy another one and return the junk Total junk. I have proof that I have bought this 2 times already. I like how smooth the bullets are. I have 6. But after 5-6 trips the gears are skipping. Not going to was very hesitant of buying this. I knew I had 30 days to return if I don't like it. Ended up using this almost every day. Handles everything wonderful. Do recommend to someone with a higher end budget.
