Description

Yamaha's 20 and 30 Series recorders are designed to provide a perfect start to anyone's musical education. They offer an ideal amount of air resistance for easy control, and feature an accuracy of intonation you would expect to find only one more expensive models. Though other maker's plastic recorders may have a similar appearance, Yamaha ABS recorders are truly superior instruments. Models are available with either 'German' or 'Baroque' fingering systems. The 20 Series, easy to play throughout their ranges, are primarily intended for beginners. 30 Series recorders, which feature an arched wind-way for improved breath control and tonal expression, are for more advanced players. Note: The G stamp on the packaging indicates German style fingering (not the key). • School quality
Our kiddos have used this for school and have been able to pass it down to the next sibling. Works well and sounds like it should. Would recommend.

  • Yamaha Just keeps cranking out quality instruments
While this item is inexpensive, it is also a quality staple for anyone wishing to build skills with a wind instrument.

  • Exactly what we were looking for
We bought this specifically for our toddler to play with and make sounda. Not for an actual instrument. The price point was amazing for the quality of product we received. Our 1 year old has a blast tooting his horn.

  • Great, basic recorder
I bought this recorder for my daughter to use at school. As a musician myself, Yamaha is always a great choice for student instruments. They are well made and have a good tone. It’s a good option for a kid needing a beginner recorder.

  • My son loves it... or loves torturing me... or both
As I am writing this review, my son is happily practicing some tune he learned in music class which I just cannot recognize. It sounds like hot cross buns mixed with jingle bells, mixed with a healthy dose of not quite being in tune. I am simultaneously happy that he is enjoying this instrument and exploring music, and frightened that his current fad with the recorder might be long lasting. Like most of the parents purchasing this, I received notice from my son's school that this exact recorder must be purchased for music class. So I dutifully did. The recorder is make of very nice plastic, has a very pleasing color that looks like ivory, and has this uncanny ability to convince anybody to pick it up and blow into it as if they can magically play a little tune. I tried, my wife tried, and neither one of us could do anything with it other than make each other's ears bleed. The recorder comes in a nice canvas storage pouch. The minute I took it out of the pouch and looked at it, it instantly reminded me of my time in grade school music class blowing away at this thing. Ahhh, memories. The recorder appears to be pretty solid. So far it has survived the abuse sustained by being in my son's back pack like a champ. Hopefully it'll last until his younger sister needs it for music class in a couple years. ... show more

  • THESE ARE PERFECT, AT THE PRICE AND QUALITY
TO AMAZON I'M NEED TO STOP WRITING NOW. I JUST HOPE THAT I WILL BE IN A DAY OR TWO. I'M SICK NOW - P J LANCELOTTI HI TO ALL - MY REVIEW IS ABOUT RECORDERS. TO START OUT, I BOUGHT 2 OF THE . Yamaha YRS-23Y Soprano Recorder, Key of C .. THESE ARE PERFECT, AT THE PRICE AND QUALITY, JUST FOR STARTERS. I'M SO HAPPY ABOUT GETTING THEM. THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT ALL THE MUSIC STORES IN MY AREA DOESN'T SELL THEM. THEN, AFTER HEARING THIS, HE MUST BE NOT SELLING THEM BECAUSE OF GREAT PRICES WE GET AT AMAZON. SINCE AMAZON HAD MY 2 RECORDERS WERE DELIVERED, TO MY FRONT DOOR, ON A SUNDAY! NOW, I WANT TO SAY MORE ABOUT MY OWN, PERSONAL RECORDERS. THAT WAS IN THE 1970'S, AND I WAS A NUN, LIVING IN A CATHOLIC MONASTERY. THERE WERE PLACES WHERE OTHERS WOULD TO PLAY. SOMEONE SAID IT WAS "CHAMBER MUSIC," SO I WAS ABLE TO BUY MY FIRST RECORDER. IT WAS MADE BY MOECK. IN THOSE DAYS THE PRICE OF THINGS WERE VERY DIFFERENT. I KNEW I WANTED THE MOECK, SO I WENT BACK TO THAT MUSIC STORE AND I WAS ABLE TO BUY IT. I DON'T REMEMBER THE PRICES OF THE MOECK AND TRADE IN, BUT I DO REMEMBER THAT IT COST $1,000. BUT FOR ME TO SPEND THAT ... show more
