  • Amazing product, ships with oil you need to change
This engine is a really really good engine, if you have done your research and know this engine will fit your moped it is the perfect engine to throw in there, this engine fits most Chinese scooters with 12-13 inch wheels, when I installed mine I didn’t need to weld or move anything I popped it right in there with no previous mechanic experience, I do have one complaint but I’m not deducting any stars because I should have done a little more research but this engine does have a pair emission system, basically what that is, is some stupid system reroute the emissions through a filter instead of getting burned or something like that in order to help the environment but the moped is so gas efficient I don’t care about the emissions and I found a simple 2 minute fix for that on YouTube just searching “gy6 pair system removal” one thing any new buyer should note is they do ship it with oil and the oil they ship it with is not the correct oil for the engine, you want to change that oil before running it because the oil they ship with is “shipping oil” it is way thicker than what you want, the oil you want should be a 10w40, I LOVE THIS ENGINE SO MUCH, I bought me a new project moped and I am soon going to buy a second one of this exact engine ... show more

  • Great product, comes filled with oil unfortunately
Engine does come with oil in, it had oil all over it unfortunately but still highly recommend! Already hooked it up in my scooter and runs great! Also it does come with brake shoes for the rear!

  • Great engine. Running like a top
Installed on my 2012 GMW V150 (now known as Wolf V150) scooter. Great little engine! Starts with one kick or a millisecond push of the electric start button. She's a peppy little thing too, she flies! What a great buy! I had been looking at purchasing a brand new scooter when an undiscovered oil leak caused major damage to my original engine. I found that I would be spending AT LEAST $1,800 probably more. Then I found this little beauty, and for less than $500 ($410 for engine +shipping, and approx. $80 on new carb and a couple other miscellaneous parts) I now have brand new scooter that is already registered, tagged, titled and ready to ride. You just can't beat that type of savings! Oh, and this was my first ever engine install. With everything necessary included on this engine (even down to the breather tube, and rear brake shoes/pads) this was a very straightforward, simple swap out. It could not have been simpler. Been riding, worry free, for a little over two months now. Loving it!! ... show more

I'm sorry but I can't give a good opinion on this product. I literally lost my money. The bike only lasted a week and the crankshaft started to rattle. After a month, the bell was very loud and I had to stop the bike. chamber or cylinder head or engine head the spark plug began to shoot like a bullet, it was a waste of money and quite expensive, what a cost to be of such poor quality ... show more

  • Pay close attention on this one. Expect to learn a few things
It can be mind boggling trying to make sure you're selecting the correct motor for your GY6. My local so called scooter shop got me for 600 bucks worth of work to my 6 month old XPRO Tahiti 150cc bike. 2 days later? The motor locks up. No oil. Naturally, I got the shaft (no pun intended) I soon found myself on Amazon buying a new motor. At the end of the day, I wish I would have simply done this the day I bought my scooter. Now that I finally have this one running, it runs better than it did when brand new. If you look at the back of the motor, i.e. the drive shaft area, you'll notice that it has the brake assembly on it. This saved me a lot of agony. It allowed me to slip my 12 inch wheel right on it, and I had very little to do with the back brake with the exception of hooking up the cable. Note: It comes with a spring, but I have yet to actually put it on. It springs back on its own for now. I'll tackle this at a later time. All I know is that I didn't have to learn how to redo the entire back brake assembly. If you're curious, my back wheel is a 12 inch wheel. The other motors (with the exception to the "X-PRO" brand) do NOT seem to have the rear brake drum. I'm assuming that the others are geared towards having a back disk brake. Regardless, it should work on pretty much any bigger Chinese GY6 Bike, and it SHOULD work on several Buddy models, i.e. 125cc, 150cc. Do NOT buy it to replace your 50cc unless your back wheel is large enough. I had to make some minor changes to the starter wiring, but it was no big deal. The power cable was a bit different, so I simply looked at my old starter and matched up the wiring. It was easy. I matched up the 2 wires that went to my voltage regulator. Blue / White to Red / White Red / Black to Red / Black. The stator molex connector was different, so I had to splice the old nmolex connector from the old motor, After I finally had it in, and everything hooked up, it was time for a test. It seemed to fire right up! BUT....BUT...BUT.... It IMMEDIATELY blew my headlights, my tail light, the indicator for the high beam was flickering, and it also blew my license plate bulb as well as a more decorative bulb on the front. I checked my wiring and double checked it to no avail.... WTF?! I took a look at my voltage regulator. It has a small amount of green corrosion in the molex connector. I replaced it immediately, along with the CDI box (It is an AC box btw), but I put new bulbs in, fired it up, and it blew them again! The only thing it could be is the stator, but it's brand new! I went ahead and pulled it out (It's a VERY good idea to have a stator puller. They're like 7 bucks!) and noticed the tiny metal node that connects with the 2 wires, that goes to the regulator, had the conductor sticking out just a bit. It is to create a gap between the stator when it spins, and the current to the regulator. I noticed that it was causing a shorter gap than my old stator when I compared them. I installed my old stator into the newly installed engine, and fired it up. Voila! It was no longer killing my lights. I tested it, and tested it, and tested it. It started right up, and was running better and better. (Please use new gas!) Before I did ANYTHING else, i.e. test drive it, etc.. I drained and changed the oil it was shipped with, along with the gearbox oil. DON'T SKIP THIS!!!!! It was a pain in the neck, and it was my first. I got ripped pretty bad by the scooter repair place, and had no choice but to figure it out on my own. I can now assemble and re-assemble close to 100% of a similar scooter (No, haven't done a big bore upgrade yet... ) RUNS AMAZINGLY I have it idling at 2k. Got rid of any of the emissions crap VERY SMOOTH and QUIET. It's BETTER than when I bought it! Had I known, I would have done this on day one after buying the bike 6 months ago. I had it damn near red lining close to 10k and could barely get 50 mph on the last motor. I'm at 45 mph at roughly 4k now. I'm quite proud of myself! Make sure you have a good screw driver, an impact wrench, a stator puller (just in case) and a good socket set with deep sockets. (metric) AND some Thread Lock and a jack! Take your time. Organize your hoses and wires. Get rid of the emissions crap and get a cold air intake. Take things slow when removing and/or installing those plastic body parts. The more you mess with them, the more likely you are to break a tab or worse. Use full synthetic. Do NOT skip the oil change! Anyways. My apologies for the lengthy review. There was a LOT to cover, and several tips I wish I had known prior to "going in". One more note. Shipping.... It was shipped UPS, and packed / wrapped well, but you can tell the box got turned over and over because there was oil everywhere. Luckily, it worked fine and wasn't damaged. It's about 70 lbs, so you may need a friend. At the end of the day, I would certainly recommend this as a replacement, but the problem with the stator had me stumped. I should not have had to use my old stator. While you have it open, you may want to take the time to replace dry rotted hoses, your carb (forget cleaning it. They're like 25 bucks brand new) Your regulator, your CDI, and get rid of that air box, replace it with a cone type intake. My bike runs BEAUTIFULLY. It's absolutely AMAZING how much better it is, even better than when it was new. Both my bike and this new motor are XPRO "Branded" but that means nothing. Is the retail motor I bought better than the OEM motor? There were cosmetic differences, but it's all the same GY6 stuff..... Good luck everyone! ... show more

  • Starts right up and runs strong.
I run my scooter hard and put a good many miles on them. Because of this I usually don't get more than 18 months or 2000 miles out of an engine. I bought one of these engines about 2 years ago and got about 2000 miles out of it. I was satisfied. It was still running a few weeks ago when I pulled it and replaced it with a new one. At the engine swap I replaced the CDI, coil/spark plug wire, and the carburetor. I recommend this engine. ... show more
