    • This is a LANDSCAPE product. Great for erosion control on hills but not craft projects.

Ordered three of these for use on a newly created berm/hill to stop erosion in hard rains. Works fantastic for that purpose. Both side edges are finished to keep from fraying, burlap conformed wonderfully to the dirt berm when wet down and product has a tight enough weave to allow grass seed to eventually grow thru. Just stapled top edge to base of fence posts and used "U" shaped bent wire to push into ground to hold joints and bottom down. Easily cut slits to allow for planting larger plants but burlap does NOT tear. Positive thing: the odor is offensive to deer so they stay away from it. :-) Some of the negative reviews were from people trying to use this as a craft product. Not a good choice. YES, it smells strongly of chemicals when first opened so do that outside. YES, the quality is pretty uneven so there are strings and gaps depending on where product was cut on bolt. Two of my three sections were perfect, last one had multiple string areas hanging and up to 1" gaps on edging. NO, even after airing I wouldn't recommend using for anything other than an outside purpose. Overall, read the comments before buying. I ordered this to use as a wedding isle runner and it worked perfectly. After the wedding we put it in our garden under our tomato plants. The weave of the burlap was fairly smooth and evenly woven with no rough bits that stuck out like some grades of burlap you can buy.     • Smells like fuel!

The quality of the burlap was great, but it had an unpleasant ‘fuel’ smell that hasn’t dissipated, even after several weeks. I’m using this in the garden, so I guess it’s okay - but if you’re going to be using this for an indoor project, maybe look elsewhere.
