  • Excellent and sturdy!
Exactly what I needed to make an adjustable sun shade for my cameras in these Oklahoma summers! The sensors get a little grainy when they get hot around here so I needed something I could get the shade moved around where I needed it to perfectly shade the camera and lens! This thing is all metal, the tightening knob is plastic but sturdy, fits great! ... show more

  • Reliable once you set it up right
Generally this is a good little arm. I've used it for a small LED panel and a webcam, and it's plenty sturdy for those. I knocked off one star because it's tricky to get it situated exactly how you want it, the "pistons" in both parts of the arm are very stiff and and put a lot of pressure against the ball adjustments at both ends; even under no tension, the pins inside the arm drag against the spherical mounts at both ends. It's not bad once you get used to it though, and it hasn't moved since I set it up. ... show more

  • Works as designed
Exactly what I needed to hold a water drop valve connected to a Pluto Trigger.

  • Good if not a bit fragile
Bought this to hold a speedlight to do some macro photography, which it does well, it's sturdy enough to hold it in place. Problem is that there is one knob which holds everything in place, and if you loosen it the whole thing goes loose, the other issue is that the knob is fragile. a good drop and the knob has cracked and can't tighten anymore. Overall it's a good product that does what it's supposed to at a very good price, but it is very fragile. ... show more

  • Good.....BUT
Mounts well to any standard 1/4x20 adapter, and accepts the same. Articulates well, BUT (you knew there was a but).... I've used articulating friction arms for some time, for a variety of applications, such as supporting a camera, an iPhone, lightweight LED panels. I've even, on occasion, chained two arms together to for a specific use. In this instance, I use this to support a lightweight LED panel for streaming (talking head on Tik Tok). I had this set and used it without needing to adjust for over a month. Held the LED panel well. Then, it came time for a change of position. Alas, I'm stuck. The friction knob (pictured) turns, but it doesn't release the knuckles. Like I said before, I'm experienced at using these, so I'm confident I did not overtighten the knob. Rather, it seems the knob has disconnected from the internal mechanism. It's not quite free-spinning, but it fails to rotate the lock inside the knuckle. Time for a replacement. ... show more

  • Works but not as good as comparable products
Functions ok, the gear tilter in the middle likes to slush around and doesn't align well when loosened, also easy to over loosen and have the whole thing fall apart. That said, when it's tightened, it locks well enough. Overall, it's what you expect for the cost, but I would rather bump to the $20 per unit price point for some other ones found on Amazon that I've tried. ... show more

  • Won’t hold much weight, and you need a pair of pliers on the tightening knob to make it tight.
I have plenty of these, and I used them for many things, but they don’t hold much weight, and the knob tightener is in efficient. A lever would work better.

  • Many different uses.
I can use this to hold many different things including flash units, monitors, holding filters. I was impressed by its strength. Other people don't like how loose it is before they lock it down. They say it moves out of position before they have a chance to tighten the knob that locks it. I just don't loosen the knob all the way so it still has play then I position it and hold it till I tighten the knob. ... show more
