  • Great fence sprayer!!!
Color: Blue
Fast and easy setup. Nozzle was very uniform, but recommend opening it all the way up(turn clockwise) to deliver more stain...very little dripping. This is a dog-ear cedar fence with Redwood 6x6 cap...new fence. Waited 30 days for proper drying before staining. Quick clean up (10 minutes) using mineral spirits (oil-based Armstrong Natural Cedar semi-transparent stain). I have a Graco professional pain sprayer but I don't like to put stain through it. This was inexpensive and quick. Both sides of 50' fence took 1.5 hours with two coats. Wish the bowl was bigger but then it would be heavier. ... show more

  • All around great sprayer, great price too
Color: Yellow
I used this to spray a solid stain on my deck of approx 300 sq. Ft., which is 100% wood. This sprayer was great in every way. It was simple to put together, take apart and clean and it sprayed well with no issues. Couldn’t ask for more in a simple paint sprayer.

  • Great beginner sprayer but don't expect miracles
Color: Yellow
I'll speak for most of us when I saw you're buying this because you think a sprayer will make your life easier and maybe even give you better results to boot. You're not a pro looking for top quality and scrounging Amazon for a cheap sprayer, let's be honest. That said, that was the boat I was in. Having a couple bad shoulders and needing to refinish rooms, I thought a sprayer would make my life easier. To be specific I bought this to paint rooms - ceiling, trim, walls. I did a ton of research on it and had this unit in my cart for a long time before finally pulling the trigger around a Prime day. This was my first foray into spraying - I'd consider myself an advanced DIY-er and always rolled/brushed rooms. After using this on a 17x10' room here are my observations, which are more about spraying in general and not so much this specific unit I guess. The unit comes apart very easily to clean. This seems to be a feature of most spray units which have a "wet end" and a blower. The blower forces air past a venturi tube which sucks up paint, generates a fine mist and blows it onto a substrate. Any part of this that could realistically touch paint comes off as one unit, disassembles easily and cleans in a breeze. The nozzles are removable, which go in rather tight. Wager sprayers seem to unitize the wet end, so rather than have different nozzles, you replace the entire assembly, but you're accomplishing the same thing. I think there are a few key aspects to getting good results: <Viscosity> You'll likely need to thin your paint. USE THE INCLUDED VISCOSITY CUP. Unless you're a pro (and you're not), you'll need to use the viscosity cup to get the viscosity of the paint right. Too thick and it will spray in clumps. Too thin and it will run like mad. As a point of reference, I use Behr paint and the wall paint I was using suggested no more than ~ 6% dilution. I was more like 25% or so. The manual lists some recommended values for viscosity, 20-40 for water based paints, I targeted mid 30's based on some info in a YT video. It seems all these style of paint sprayers use the same DIN spec for viscosity. So you're thinking I'll just make one larger batch (in a bucket) so I dilute only once? That wound up just making a big mess for me, so I mixed in the included container and shook by hand. I also didn't have luck trying to keep track of the dilution to make it more repeatable, that's because the container gets coated with paint making it impossible to see the paint level. <Nozzles> The unit comes with 4 nozzles; the manual mentions a 1.8 but you only get a 1.5 and a 2.0, so I'm not sure what that is referencing. I used the 1.5. <Technique> This is the most difficult part. You can put some paper up on your wall and play with the settings, but for the most part provided your viscosity is right, your volume is set correctly (the knob that controls how far you can depress the trigger), and you don't dwell in one spot too long, the results should be OK. No shock, it's a lot like using a can of spray paint in that regard. <Masking> You have to mask absolutely everything. Even if you take care of overspray, the fine mist this generates will dry as it falls leaving a fine dust EVERYWHERE. <Limitations> I sprayed the ceiling, trim and walls. The Trim paint specifically said "do not thin", which of course I did, and I had to a LOT. I wouldn't recommend that - it was so thin that it ran too much and after one coat I saw I'd need more so I just used a brush. All in all, I would probably use this to paint a ceiling again, since I'm pretty much masking off the entire room anyway (these ceilings currently have popcorn which is being removed and that's a messy process). I'm not sure if I would spray walls again, since even after masking and using a spray shield I'll likely have to cut in the ceiling again, and I don't think I want to mask the entire ceiling to spray the walls. So TLDR, decent unit, absolutely great for the value. No issues at all, but just keep in mind the limitations of spraying. ... show more

  • Easy to use and effective
Color: Blue
For the price I wasn’t sure how this would turn out. It was great! With this sprayer and a 5 gallon bucket clear sealant, I was able to save over a thousand dollars on having our new fence professionally sealed. The sprayer is like 500% faster than rolling or brushes - I did 250 feet of fence in maybe 5 hours total, but that included an hour of rolling in some areas I couldn’t spray + my time figuring out how to use this machine, and half of the fence was on a ledge where I had to climb up and down. The last 100 feet without any complications probably took under an hour, including clean up. To my surprise the sprayer cleaned up great and I think we can use it again. I wiped it down, sprayed the dirtiest areas with dish soap, wiped it down again, and then filled the reservoir with hot water and sprayed it out to clean out the interior, and it seems good as new. Also left it dirty for days in between starting and finishing the job (had to pause for weather) and the oil based sealant didn’t dry in it or ruin it. We used Wood Defender sealer. Sealants don’t have to be diluted per the machine’s instructions, and it didn’t clog once. My only complaint is that I wish the reservoir were bigger… with our thirsty raw 6’ cedar fence, I had to reload every 15 feet or so, which was a pain in the butt. Would have been twice as fast with a larger reservoir. Our sealant advised wetting down porous surfaces, so I ran water through the sprayer first to wet the walls of the house and ground where there was stone work, then used the sprayer with sealant in it on the fence. Laid plastic down for some areas where I really didn’t want drips, as the machine dripped pretty profusely. With paint or colored stain you would need to intensely tape and cover things to use this sprayer, but for a clear oil that could go over the fence hardware, this was sooo easy peasy. You do need to keep it level and keep distance from the fence consistent; the instructions describe keeping your wrist flat rather than swinging your arms very well. Depending on your fitness and the height of what you’re spraying it might get heavy for you — I’m sure that’s why the reservoir isn’t bigger — but I didn’t find it to be too heavy at all and I’m a woman of average strength and fitness. My arm got tired after a while, but it would have been a lot more tired with 5x the movement repetition with a paint brush or roller. ... show more
