  • A Step up REAL 4K UHD Video Picture
I have a View Sonic PX747-4K 3500 Lumens projector for the past 4 years and it has served me well, after seeing the View Sonic PX748-4K 4000 Lumens projector I wanted to see if there was a difference in brightness and Picture and YES it is a STEP UP from the PX747-4K projector, a Brighter Picture and TRUE 4K images for Movies and live programming very impressive and it is 3D ready if you like. I project on a 144" Screen and in a Sun lite room during the day and I was very impressed with how bright the picture, it was not washed out by intensive light from the windows. This View Sonic projector PX748-4K UHD deserves 5 Stars . ... show more

  • HDR changes which is annoying, as well as the zoom (setting to 0.8 instead of 1x) reverts
For 1,000 I would have expected more. Games look good but connecting to pc had to set to 30fps on a RTX 1080 otherwise it says out of range. I plan to relocate to avoid needing to zoom out. Also worth noting the Fast input disables the best features the Auto Screen calibrate as well as any of the other digital picture correction settings automatically disable,, the flashing when using the HDR is making me consider returning .. the picture is good but again i would expect a more crisp picture for the cost Time will tell because I am not 100% against it being it does a good job at getting the picture ... show more

  • Best Bang For Your Buck - Quality and Cost
I have to say I am thoroughly impressed. Pretty much a WOW experience from the second I turned it on. Bright and vivid colors, even in a lit room. 4000 lumens in 4k is pretty hard to beat at this price point. Believe me when I say that you get way more than you pay for with the PX748-4K. I had an Epson home cinema and this blows anything out of the water in the $2k and under category. Don’t hesitate to buy if you are looking. My Xbox looks amazing and on screen play is smooth with low latency enabled on the projector. I bought a tv tuner box and this thing is amazing for watching any sports game on the big screen. I project onto a 110” screen and have a semi lit basement unless it’s night time. Beautiful picture night or day! ... show more

  • Viewsonic destroyed its reputation with the 748-4k
So I've ordered the 748-4k 11 times. Yes. Eleven. The first one I actually recieved it! Now it has some major glitches. If you play something in HDR, then go back to SDR? Its colorspace is stuck and looks wrong. You have to go into the settings, turn the colorspace to hdr, then back to sdr. Every, single time. Plus there were noticeable lines where something internally was bad. So! I sent it back. The next 3 times I ordered it, Viewsonic cancelled it. Every, time. So I was curious, put a different address and name down and they sent it! Problem is, its likely the exact same one. Same issues. But I thought, the picture is really superb past the glitches, I'll live with it. Died within a month. They sent a bulb out, which did not fix it. Likely the dmd chip died. So! I sent it back. Tried ordering it multiple, upon multiple times and every retailer cancelled it. Until the 11th time, Amazon actually sent it. Opened it up, its a ancient benq projector thats been in a smokers home. Even had a tag on it where viewsonic shipped it to amazon first. 11 times trying to order a product, and they do this? I'm figuring I'm a joke to them at this point. So I ordered the Optoma uhd38 and IT JUST WORKS! No hdr to sdr glitches. Now it isn't nearly as bright, even though both claim 4000 lummens. The 748-4k has a better 1.3x zoom compared to 1.1x on the optoma. The 748-4k is the winner overall picture wise. The issue? The actual case and fan, isn't nearly big enough to actually cool the thing. In normal you're probably fine. Problem is eco slows the fan down, and thats where I'd bet why it died. After owning the p700hd for years, and STILL going strong, I figured I'd give the 748-4k a shot. But the p700hd doesn't run as hot, has a much bigger case and fan to cool it. Viewsonic has became a nightmare to buy from, and would highly, HIGHLY reccomend consider something else. ... show more

  • A few deal breakers IMO
I've had this projector for maybe shy of a year now and there are a few things i think people should know. Overall, its a great piece of equipment and the value is definitely there from a price point perspective. Image quality is good and its very bright and usable even during the day with the lights off and some simple shades closed. Doesn't seem to run too hot and isn't that noisey when your using it even if its directly above you. You should however keep in mind that it's difficult to get full control of the system with something like an amazon firestick or an apple tv device. The volume buttons will work if you put in some time but i couldn't get power button to ever work. Every now and then i have to restart the system because i get weird artifacts in the image but a quick reboot solves it for me. Too bad a reboot cycle is like 4-5 mins Lastly, my wife hates me for this, but i have this in the bedroom and this thing emits a high pitched screeching sound that will never go away while it's plugged in. It's not an easy task to unplug a ceiling outlet and its caused quite a bit of anger in the household. This is something you might want to keep in mind if it's in a bedroom you sleep in. I dont use a receiver to power my audio on this thing since its just a right/left speaker. This means i send the audio from a firestick to the projecter and use the audio out to get what i need. It works but i feel like the audio quality is pretty subpar in this setup. Probably a niche use case but something to note. ... show more

  • Absolutely stunning home picture quality
Above my expectations. My original idea was electric screen above living room window. Ended up leveling screen to flow with blind rail. This Projector was ceiling mounted at 10’3” to the screen. After just a few moments of adjustments WOW. I’m hearing family and friends already planning to purchase. I rarely write reviews but I was hesitant on this purchase being lower in cost. Compared to others. Don’t be. I’m happy and living room has some light entering with no problems. . ... show more
