I think this is the first time that i've stained some panels without wanting to tear off my skin after. This makes life very easy. You need to completely push down to allow the stain into the sponge, it seems to work with some kind of spring-loaded seal to shut off the bottle, like some kind of piston valve buried under the sponge. That valve has sufficient seal to allow you to carefully wash off the sponge at the end under running water, so you can put it away for some time and get to use it another day, the residual stain won't be wasted. Great design. Not a perfect enough seal on that valve to stow for a long time, but that's fine by me, i don't like keeping stains or paints long enough for them to partition or precipitate. ... show more

Staining with this product takes some patience and regular reassessment of your work. The sponge applicator works as intended, delivering some stain to clean wood, but you really have to work it around and reapply more stain through shaking the bottle for consistency in final appearance.
