UPDATE: After giving these a second chance (maybe I got a bad batch??) I can say these are fantastic for my use as described below. Like most pens the cap is not there to chew on, but to keep the tip moist. And we all know that's Job 1 whenever such a situation arrises.... I've been trying to find a pen that won't drag on the varying quality of notepads I get from the various O Depot's and such. The consistency differs from pad to pad. The .7mm is a smooth-writing pen. The tip looks like a felt pen to me, but it’s definitely a rollerball. My husband used these pens first, and he said I should try one. When mine arrived in the mail, he was eager. “Open them,” he urged. It took me a few minutes, because these three pens were wrapped tight with plastic and tape. These are kind of cool pens - they write in any direction and they have a nice bold line. The pens write fairly smoothly with the slight scratch that some people like when they are writing. The ink lasts a good long time and the cap stays secure. The ink used to be very permanent - this last set I got has smudged some so I have had to be careful about letting the ink dry before it is touched. Overall - cool pen - but it is cool more for the novelty than for the writing it does. ... show more

    • Usually a wonderful pen. I think I got a bad batch?
I’ve used these solely for years of writing and this pack would not work at all. I would get 10% of the pen on paper then it just would not release ink to the page. Writing for a living I can’t clutter pages with scribbles to get the ink flowing every few minutes and lost so many lines and so much flow to what I was writing during that time. I don’t know if it was the batch or the company changed something but I think it’s time to go pen shopping.... just hate it. ... show more

I am particular with pens. I just do not use the pens from the dollar store or from any store with pens. I have to be assured the pens are good pens. When buying these, consider 0.7 mm, not 0.5 mm. The 0.5 mm write with a scratching feeling on the paper.
