I ordered this cord because it claims European manufacturing standards (ROHS) which lower or eliminate lead in the sheathing. You will notice that there is no California warning in the product description. You would, then, rightly assume that, because there is no CA warning, there is no lead in the cord. However, the cord came with a tag attached to the cord with the California warning on it (see pic). There is no ROHS stamp on the cord itself (there is a UL stamp, though). The cord came in a bag which indicates ROHS, but of course, means nothing as the bag could be counterfeit or switched. Also, the model number is not printed on the cord. Either this cord counterfeit or the manufacturer is trying to mislead the buyer. POST the California chemical warning in the ad! ... show more

I had one reason, and one reason alone to purchase this and that was because I wanted to extend the distance of a portable space heater. Space heaters always seem to come with a warning never to plug into an extension cord, but rather directly into the wall. The problem with that is, the space heaters always seem to have pitifully short cords. When is somebody going to wake up and include at least a decent 10' cord with a space heater? I purchased this cord because it's rated for the power outage of my space heater, and because it's only 3' long-which was just long enough for my purposes. So far, no problems-everything's working fine. No overheating, no tripping circuit's etc. etc. If I have any problems I'll add on a further report. ... show more

Love getting shorter extension cords for permanent connections (e.g. TV, lamp, etc). I recently discovered that less can be more with extension cords. I have some 1 foot long dongles that come in handy around crowded outlets. They really allowed access for plugging/unplugging in outlets that I use to avoid. I have 2 ft splitters for the same reason. I got some 10 foot shorties to fix wire excess around the house. PROS: Nice price. Nice black, not white are some obnoxious color. Great for permanent connection, because there isn't excess cord lying around looking messy. CONS: None that I can see. NOTE: 15Ax110V = 1650 Watts max. Heaters are often 1500 watts. ... show more

I suppose that most uses for this product are making up the 3 foot difference in length,when connecting a refrigerator,washer machine,air conditioner or space heater.Since most new homes have a plug every 6 feet or plugs specifically placed for those uses ,finding this locally was impossible.You want to use the shortest possible cord and this is it.It wasn’t too stiff and both male/female ends were well made.I recommend this if you are in a bind and need just a few more feet. ... show more

    • Finally! No more tripping power strips with the 1800W deep fryer!

I purchased this primarily to use with my Waring 1800W deep fryer, which we use in the garage as opposed to in the kitchen. With the outlets so far away, the tiny cord that comes with the fryer obviously wouldn't cut it. But, being an 1800W (15A) appliance, only a very heavy-duty extension cord could be used without the risk of causing it to overheat. This fit the bill perfectly - it is JUST the right length, THICK (heavy-duty), and retains beautifully. No loose connections at the female side to overheat - which could very well occur with something like a deep fryer or space heater (which this would also work great for). Previously, I had been using a 15A-rated power strip in conjunction with a smaller heavy-duty extension cord, but this setup would, for some reason, cause the power strip to trip on startup - despite being exactly a 15A load as the power strip was rated for. This longer (single) cord solved the issue of unwanted tripping, however, and won't overheat, either, due to being the correct gauge (this is THICKER 14 gauge; fryer power cord is SMALLER 16 gauge). Would highly recommend for anyone that needs a longer cord for an appliance with a high current demand, or simply wants a heavy-duty extension cord for added safety/durability. ... show more

I use it on a Black & Decker toaster convection oven that came with only a 2 foot long cord. Needed a short, heavy duty extension with good aesthetics as it is running on top of a countertop. So, could not have the slack of a longer cord and did not want the "ugly" of the cord I terminated myself after freshening up the room. This 14AWG cord is flexible and has nice molded on ends. Unlike some reviewers have commented, the ends of the cord I received were perfectly formed and mated easily to the receptacle and appliance. Needed an extension cord for the outside Christmas lights. This was the shortest I could find rated for outdoors. It worked great! It got down to -30 degrees and more some nights but these never shorted out. No matter how much snow fell, the lights plugged in and unplugged easily. I was able to roll the cord into the outside covered plug area to just have the end hanging out to plug the lights into and, well, they worked exactly as intended.
