Lets get to the brass tacks on this: The coffee is delicious. That's all you need to know regarding the actual item. Its robust, flavorful, the crema that comes out is great. The coffee is 4.5 stars, but I knocked stars off for what we will cover below. Now to the bad - Starbucks is ending support of their Verismo system and pods (Confirmed by multiple stores), which has made it harder and harder to find pods as K-Fee (the company that makes them) appears to be ramping down production on these. You can currently (in the Seattle area) buy them on Amazon and Bed Bath and Beyond but, most Starbucks stores in the King County area no longer carry them in store. So I did my research and found out that CBTL pods are "compatible" and work. For $10 I thought I'd give it a try. They don't work as expected. So grab your fork and follow me..... 1. Your pulls are inconsistent, they will leak into the catch container, and you may have to try to run the same pod twice. Or they won't pull any fluid at all and your pump will give up trying to give you your sweet nectar... 2. Then.... the pods get stuck... Grab that fork and get ready to pry it out of the machine, remember there's hot coffee in there 3. Did you run it through more than once to get at least 1 shot? You may now be greeted with grounds in your cup as you finish your beverage, take that last sip gingerly Look, I'm sure this works great with CBTL's style of machine, but I recommend trying a K-Fee brand in your Verismo. NOT THESE. I needed a quick fix until Amazon brought Verismo pods back in stock, these didn't fill that need. Personally, I will use these 16 pods up (because throwing coffee away is a sin, lol) and then move to Nespresso as they now have a "contract" with Starbucks to make their pods. ... show more

Flavor Name: Costa Rica Brew Size: 16 Count (Pack of 1)
CBTL Costa Rica Brew Coffee Capsules By The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, 16-Count Box This version of the CBTL coffee pods is very good. I buy it regularly along with other brews from CBTL. It is kind of mid-range darkness. It is not watery and tastes good. This Costa Rica Brew is flavorful and brews so much better than any K-Cups version I have tried. I believe the CBTL brews with more force and heat which brews the quality coffee found in these pods better than the other popular brand found almost everywhere. There are 16 capsules in the box which works out mathematically to be a bit less than a dollar a serving. It is definitely on par with the other brand I have also used, but again the coffee just tastes so much better. Otherwise I would not go through the challenge of sourcing this brand. It is not exactly found everywhere. The smell of the coffee after it has brewed is very nice. It smells exactly the way you would want your coffee to smell as long as you like non-flavored coffees. The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf company has been around for more than 45 years. I really enjoy getting a cup of coffee from their shops, but sadly there are none nearby me currently. These coffee pods fill the gap for me. Buy this, drop a pod in your CBTL machine and enjoy your cup ‘o joe. There's a lot of confusion out there as to whether these pods work in the Starbucks Verismo brewer. Technically CBTL pods are not compatible with K-Fee brewers (like the Verismo), but they do work with the following caveats: 1) The CBTL *brewed coffee pods* (like their French Roast, which is far better than any of the Starbucks brewed coffee pods) generally work without a problem. On the rare occasion when a pod does get stuck, let the pod cool before trying to eject it. 2) The CBTL *espresso pods* have a filter disk in them, which helps build extra pressure for brewing espresso. This disk can cause the pod to get stuck in a Verismo, as the disk is rigid, not flexible like the body of the pod. Typically if you let the pod cool before trying to eject it, it won't get stuck. Sometimes it takes gently working the Verismo lever open and closed a few times to dislodge a pod and for those truly stuck pods you may need to use a toothpick to pry it out. Another thing that works is sticking the tines of a small fork through the foil lid of the pod, then turning the fork to loosen the pod so you can pull it out with the fork. 3) The espresso pods can sometimes build up enough pressure that it causes a blow-through of the pod filter and you end up with grounds in your espresso. This is more likely to happen the longer you let the pod brew. I've never had a problem with a single-shot of espresso, but anything more than that is a risk. You will usually hear a change in the pump sound which indicates you're near the point of blow-through, so push the espresso button again to stop the flow of water before it happens. ... show more
