The TV is excellent as far as picture quality goes. The dark colors and contrast look amazing. My problem is the software. The TV is super buggy and slow. It feels like you're on a computer with dial up internet. It is so slow to respond to any remote commands. You must hit a button then wait a few seconds. It also has unreliable internet connection both on wifi and on LAN. It will drop the connection and force you to set it up again multiple times. I occasionally have to restart the television to get it to work because of buggy software updates and lagging. I was a little apprehensive buying a 55" t.v. for only 360 dollars but I am very happy I did.the picture and refresh rate is great and it's nice and loud sound to watch movies with and I am also a gamer and the graphics look fantastic too I had even saw this t.v. at Walmart for hundreds more then I paid for mine so if I was you I would definitely look into getting one of these t.v.z I have hadine now for a few weeks with no problems and like I said the value for your money is fantastic now I regret not buying the 65 " that was only 500 now that I have this one but I am very happy with my purchase ... show more

I bought this TV for a spare room, not expecting anything of quality. Seriously, when you buy a 55" TV for $350, you have to come in with low expectations. I am amazed at how good the picture looks. The audio is loud enough and clear enough to be heard clearly in a medium size room. The Google TV interface is a bit sluggish. A TV this cheap doesn't have much processing power. But overall, this set's picture and audio are quite nice and it works reasonably well. This is not a TV for cinema snobs. However, it is a great TV considering the price. So I’m very used to Plasma and OLED in smaller sizes for production purposes. And even though I love my plasma at 720 P it has a fantastic picture however, the sharpness on this is mine blowing, and since it’s DirectView LEDs lit from the back. None of that edge light garbage, I have run several high DEF test patterns and purity signals. All colors are very even.. I am picking up over the air content, and for the most part, it looks beautiful unless, of course it’s transmitted in standard DEF, but that’s not the fault of the TV. The tuner and this will also pick up digital TV over the Internet. Not a whole lot of great choices there, but some of its good and much of it is in 4K. I also running a 4K ultra HD DVD into it, and that looks great. I will say that you must take it out of the default set up. It comes in you need to play around with the settings on and get it to the way you like it.. another nice thing I noticed is that whatever settings I set are for whatever input I’m using at the time, so I set my settings for a TV that sticks to TV. They said it to HDMI one at six to HDMI one and so on.. has three HDMI inputs. And when I turn on the TV, it will turn on my audio receiver as well over the HDMI 2.1. As for the Google options, they seem to work fine for me so I don’t know what a lot of people have complained about. Some say it’s slow to respond, but I have not encountered that at least maybe I’m just more patient. I think TCL did very good job on this particular model which has the G prefix at the end I was looking at the F earlier. Apparently there is some thing in game mode that makes it run at 240 frames per second. I’m not a gamer so I wouldn’t be able to know. Overall, it’s a great price and a very good set.     • TCL is fine with selling you a tv that has bad pixels and not providing a replacement. Do not buy!

Truly a zero star review. Dead annoying bright green pixel after 2 months. This is the first and last TCL. They are CHEAP for a reason. We have owned LG, Samsung even a GE and never had a single pixel go out. Horrible service. Worse quality. From TCL service "After carefully reviewing the photos provided and conducting an assessment, we regret to inform you that we will be unable to proceed with the warranty claim process in this instance. It is for the reason that the dead pixel that you have identified falls within TCL's pixel policy, which adheres to industry standard practices." ... show more

Really like the TV. Picture is awesome. The Google TV software is really buggy. Lots of power off reboots due to software unable to process video. Bought a GoogleTV dongle to fix the issue.

So a bit of a tech nerd here, I have an LG OLED and a Samsung QLED for reference. I wanted a nicer newer tv for the basement for my kids and their PS5, Plex, Netflix etc. This tv fit the bill for price while still offering dolby vision, which many budget tv's don't support. Hooked it up to a vizio soundbar and it's a nice setup. The picture is pretty good for a non-OLED and most users will be happy. Here's my issue. It's slowwww. I also have an nvidia shield pro, so I'm used to the google tv format, but loading every app and navigation is painful. I have a wifi6e mesh system, but that's not even an issue because I have this hardwired through a gig network. There's no excuse for the sluggishness. My kids don't seem to mind, but it's annoying that a cheap roku stick on my older vizio via wifi is light speed compared to this tv. Also plex doesn't seem to work despite a bunch of troubleshooting. I'm holding out hope that some more software/firmware updates will remedy this, but I can't give this tv more than 3 stars and I'd caution most users who are used to quick smart tv response.
