The other reviews are accurate: the provided markers do not erase off the slate very well and leave a smudgy mess. I simply bought some regular Expo dry erase markers and they work just fine!

    • Looks good, works good.
Tested the markers on the back, the ones I got wipe off with no trouble. The screw nuts are loose. Some closed or capped nuts have a plastic binder which insures they will not unscrew easily, these do not. A trip to the hardware store can fix that. (Hint, Hint, use the right closed nuts! Do that and I'll upgrade it to five stars.) Or use good old Locktite to bind the nut to the screw. Easy fix for minor irritation! They could improve the product by putting the color bands on both sides, allowing use the blank slate with clapper for color checks in addition to the labeled side, but most of us don't do color checks anyway, so the back is still usable for non-standard notes. Labels on the plastic are printed, not "Computer-graved and with printings non-lose" as they say; but looks like it will last. Heck of a lot cheaper than the $30 - $100-plus clappers I've seen! And this looked stronger than some of the even cheaper ones. Buy it, it's good! ... show more

    • Seems to work fine
Only used it once but it Clacked and made it pretty easy to see the waveform in adobe. Getting exactly what you pay for here. Seems fine. Never wiped off the notes from the first and only use so I can't say how well that's going to happen after baking on there for a month in the back of my truck.

Works fine. The hinge is a little flimsy. But the worst thing is the bottom is extremely sharp. Hurts to hold.

    • Dry (but NO) Erase...
This clapboard is not a high-tech item. But, for a simple item like this you should (would) still expect one of its primary features to function. The issue is the whiteboard does not erase easily. One of the first tests anyone would try after clapping the board... is writing on it with the included dry-erase markers. The marker proved its worth and worked OK. However, when the same marker's own eraser was used to erase - it removed about 50% and left dark gray letters behind. Moving to a soft cloth did not improve the erasing function. Adding a dab of water - nope. A drop of isopropyl alcohol and that same soft cloth... nope. What finally worked was *excessive* force bearing down on the cloth rubbing over and over - like Lady Macbeth might use. Not ideal for a production (student or professional) environment - where quick changes are needed with little effort. Chalk boards may be a better investment over this solution. ... show more

I am not mad at this purchase. You really need to also buy acrylic cleaner, because the dry/erase marker does not erase at all, which I think is the acrylic. The pins fell off easily, but it's ok, it is easy to fix, just an unfortunate part that doesn't work. The marker run out fast. Because the acrylic doesn't clean from erasers, you may as well not even use them. ... show more

    • Sturdy and decent quality clapperboard.
I've only used this for a couple projects so far but so far it's working out great. There's not much else to say. It's cheap but it works. I've had other cheap ones that simply fall apart or feel like they're going to break in your hand but this one's decent quality.
