Before I purchased these shorts, I read a heck of a lot of reviews about them. The sizing seemed to be all over the place which made it very difficult choosing whether to purchase or not. I hate returning things. I finally found one review from a female who was around my size. I am 5'5" and 145 and age 60. I have a small gut and not a six pack as I am no longer 20 years old. :). I know that these are men's shorts but they run small no matter what. After reading that one review I decided on the medium. When I received them, I tried them on right away. They fit (not too tight and not to loose) I do not have to tie the drawstring to keep them on, and when I start to lose a little more weight around my stomach area they will be perfect. They are very comfortable. I like the cell phone inside pocket but would not run or exercise with it but very convenient for not having to hold my phone constantly. The shorts themselves are short, but with the spandex legging you do not have to worry about anybody looking up your shorts when you are doing bench presses! If you are a guy there is no pouch for storage if you know what I mean. If you are female then no need. I would have to say that if you are a petite person like me (female) or a teenage boy who has not bulked up yet then medium would fit (like I said they run small). If you are anything other than that... go L, XL, XXL etc. I will only wash and air dry these for sure, no hot dryer. So if you are a petite man go for it but if you are a regular size guy then order up, better semi loose than a strangle hold. ... show more

What I love about 'em: Fit like a glove. Very comfortable. The pocket on the inside shorts is in exactly the right place, whereas some other brands have a very high inner pocket that requires you to hike the outside shorts WAY up to get your phone in / out. What I don't care for: The outside pockets for your hands are way, way too shallow. I wouldn't trust my keys, wallet or phone in those pockets or I would lose them. Bought one pair hoping the fit would be right and they looked as good in person as they did in the pictures - and was pleasantly surprised. I'm 5'11" 198lbs and a Large fits perfectly. Soon after the first one came I ordered four more. The comments about the short pockets are true, but it's no big deal, you put your phone in the sewn-in pocket in the lining and your keys in a pocket. Works great. The recommended size for me was Large, but I ordered a large and they were snug. They weren’t too tight, but too tight for me. I went back and ordered a XL, and I’m happy with those. For reference, I am 5’11” & 200 pounds. I normally wear 34” waist pants
