Laser works just as expected but, I can't hear the tone unless I'm within 12" of the unit. Not practical on a job site. Even other co-workers say it's not very loud and should be much louder for the environment it's used.

This laser works great for any constrution project. It is an entry level laser, but because of who it is made by, it is a great laser. I used it for grading and setting forms for my concrete foundation. Very accurate and reliable. If you are a contractor starting out or your guys are rough on equipment, I recommend this laser. I bought a Bosch laser level that was loaded with one problem after another. I return the Bosch and bought the Spectra laser level for less money. The Bosch had a 165 foot range which I never was able to verify but the Spectra has a 1,000 foot circle range. I tested it to 250' and it was a joy to hear the beeper loud and clear. The Bosch unit never worked. Other laser levels I have owned had receivers that beeps you could not hear unless it was quiet. The Spectra chirps loud! This brand is so far advanced from box store units I urge you to try this brand first. I wasted an entire day playing with the Bosch but had the Spectra unit up and running in minutes right out of the box. Outstanding unit solidly built. ... show more

We have other Spectra laser levels with the laser head and receiver in a case but the tripod and grade stick are separate. They work great but having everything in one case is so much easier to deal with, and the tripod and grade stick are also protected, keep the whole set in good condition. If you set your equipment up, and leave it up all day this might not be a big deal. But we have to stop at a site, take measurements, and leave in a matter of minutes. I keep the laser head attached to the tripod all the time so set up and take down is a matter of seconds. Love it. ... show more

I like how easy it is to set up and self leveling is just a must have for time and accuracy, only downfall for me is that when you get to grade it doesn’t make any noise and the line goes away tell you at grade, it seems like on fine mode it has more play than other lasers do. It’s a great laser for roughing in plumbing or ditches if you can have some varies in grade but for real fine work I don’t think this laser is the best choice ... show more
