This was much smaller than I expected but it is extremely sturdy and works well. I thought the price was really expensive but considering how sturdy the metal is I'm okay with it

    • Not what I hoped for
I was so excited to try this soil sifter but now I'm disappointed. I only wanted it for compost from a tumbler composter. Anyone who has a tumbler knows that the end product usually has ball shaped compost that needs to be broken up. I tried doing this when the compost was quite moist, then I let it dry and tried again. It didn't work well at all. I think the biggest problem with the sifter is that the horizontal bar that pushes the product into the sieve is the wrong shape. It should be flat with one side raised up to catch the compost. The pencil shaped bar just moves the compost around without pushing it through the sieve. Maybe it works better with soil but it was a fail for my purpose. ... show more

    • Somewhat complicated to assemble. Works fairly well once you get it together.
Ah, let me regale you with the tale of my battle with the compost sifter. Now, don't get me wrong, this contraption has its merits, but boy oh boy, did it put up a fight during assembly. I spent what felt like an eternity wrestling with those fiddly bits, dropping them left and right like a clumsy magician performing a disappearing act. But hey, once I finally got the thing put together, it did its job – sort of. It sifted through the compost like a champ, but it was like waging war against a barrage of wood chunks and debris. I mean, isn't the whole point of a compost sifter to make life easier? Yet there I was, locked in mortal combat with every stick and stone in my ProMix blend. It's a blessing in disguise, I suppose, but let's just say it's not exactly a walk in the park. ... show more

I got this to use with my composter to help sift through pieces that were clumped up or even not fully composted items. All I have to say is wow. This thing works absolutely great for sifting anything in the soil. I may just use it to save some small rocks out of some soil that I’ve got so bottom line would I recommend? yes absolutely. ... show more

I am upgrading from a regular circle shaped hand sifter that I had to shake repeatedly and it did not fit a lot inside it at once. This unit makes up for every issue I had with my old one. I found it easy to assemble and everything was packaged well. Make sure to have the bolt covers on the OUTSIDE of the legs when you assemble it and you will be good to go. I mistakenly put them on the inside of the unit which effected it's ability to turn lol. I was rushing because I couldn't wait to try it. It processed a large amount of media and the interchangeable screens are perfect for my various needs. I tested it to remove dirt and debris from rocks that we use to line our homes slab. I also have used it on worm castings and also on a potted soil blend to help make sure the soil is loamy and does not have any large chunks of wood or rocks. I will update my review if I come across any issues but I don't suspect I will. All materials included seem to be of quality! ... show more
