I bought this bee house because the length of the tubes is 6", which is what I read is the minimum length required for the bees to produce both males and female bees. If the tubes are too short, you get male bees only. I only wish this house had an 'attic' to safely place the box of cocoons away from the elements while they hatch, which is the reason I gave it a 4. ... show more

I have just got into Solitary bees this year and have a few different nests and this is by far the bee's favourite - it is great watching the females fly in and out covered in nectar and this morning was the first filled hole - so very exciting. I will most likely purchase another one for next season as my solitary bee network expands. Arrived fairly quickly. Solidly built of fragrant wood and ready to just hang and let the bees find it. I really like that it can be taken apart to clean when not in use and that it's made of sustainable and recycled wood.
