Amazing spinning reel, I have it on a 9 foot star stellar and it casts for miles. It's a super smooth reel and the baitrunner feature is great for fishing piers so you don't have to tighten and losen your drag every time you set the pole down. Hoping to get many years out of this reel.

This reel is excellent for free lining baits! I use it on my kayak, and it can take quite a beating on the open ocean. Despite some very hash treatment, the reel is still as smooth as it was when I first purchased. Worth the investment!

I have 7 other Shimano reels for saltwater and all have taken a beating and are still working fine, This one I bought mostly for freshwater use. Brake and reel are very smooth. Reel is light yet very sturdy and robust. The Amazon price was the best I could find anywhere.

I ordered the 12000 that way I can drop rigged ballyhoo back while trolling cause I don’t like conventional reels offshore. It said it can take 500 yards of 50”lb test. I only think I got 400yards on the spool. I bought a 500 yards spool. Didn’t take it all. Not even close. I wanted something with more capacity in case I hook a something bigger than 200+ lbs ... show more

Ferrari of baitrunners in my opinion , own 3 and by far the best of all I've tried . Simple fresh water rinse after saltwater / sand exposure and greasing up every year which shimano offers free is unbeatable . This reel goes well on any rod 10 feet or larger and is incredibly light for all that it offers . ... show more
