I'll admit to having been skeptical about purchasing a mattress in a box. The reviews for the most popular ones were all over the place, adding to my doubt. When I bumped up the price range I was looking for and decided to focus on established brands, this Sealy stood out from the rest. I took the plunge and ordered it. It arrived 4 days earlier than estimated. I set it up early the next morning before going to work to give it time to expand. Set up was simple, the hardest part was getting a 60 pound box up the stairs and my old mattress out of the way. As I got to the end of the shrink wrap, the mattress began uncoiling, slowly enough that I had enough time to position it atop my existing box spring. There was no odor, as some reviews on some products mention. It assumed full shape pretty quickly and was ready for sheets, etc. when I got home from work. I slept on it that night. It's very comfortable, I toss and turn a whole lot less than I used to do, my sleep quality is definitely improved! The memory foam conforms to me while being neither too soft nor too firm. The springs underneath provide good support for the whole thing. I'm very pleased with it. I used my existing bed frame and box spring, which went against the recommendations but I have three metal cross bars on the frame each with a support in the middle and they all attach to the wooden side rails that slot into the head and foot boards with metal supports. If you have a sturdy bed frame, you'll be OK. You will need a box spring if you do not have a platform bed frame. With all that, the mattress does weigh 60 pounds so make sure you can accomodate that weight. Final comment, sitting on the edge of this mattress is no different from doing so on a regular mattress, it's plenty firm enough, the memory foam and coil springs support my 250 pounds just fine. ... show more

Very happy with this purchase. I was looking at the purple hybrid mattress, but didn’t want to spend that much on the mattress alone (retails around $3k). I took a chance ordering this one after hearing really mixed reviews on “bed in a box” style mattresses. I am blown away at how similar the feel (firmness, motion transfer, etc) is to the purple hybrid! This mattress has been incredibly comfortable for me and my partner. Both of us have noticed our back and hip pain decrease. We love the firm yet cushioned, supportive feel of this mattress. 10/10 would recommend! ... show more

I like it. value = price. i do think this is med firm. supportive. I am about 300 lbs. I feel comfortable sleeping on back, side, or stomach on this mattress. I usually like a little softer bed, but I like this one.
