Tried this on a recommended coffee to me while searching. Whole bean offering has a wonderful aroma when you open the bag every morning. Grinds well, little static with conical grind as the natural coffee bean oils remained through their roasting and production process. However, this isn’t always a mark of freshness, stale coffee can develop a rancid, acidic flavor while retaining a beautiful oily sheen. This was not the case, and every cup was consistent and flavorful. The only downside I would give for this coffee was the bag. Initially, I held the beans in the bag and rolled it closed with a spring clip on top. After I ground roughly a little more than half the bag, I did notice flavor change in the coffee and the beginning of higher acidity in the flavor profile. With a bag this size, this is not uncommon, in the future I will keep the unground beans in an airtight container before use. ... show more

Flavor Name: Donut Shop Size: 2 Pound (Pack of 1)
The definition of between light and medium for this roast only fits if you haven’t seen lightly roasted coffee. This is solidly in medium roast. Otherwise, it’s a solid coffee. Not particularly complex in flavor, but gets the job done. Tried brewing in both pour over and standard percolation. Got a balanced flavor that wasn’t bitter or acidic, but also no interesting notes otherwise. ... show more

To me the coffee had a bolder taste for being a breakfast blend, however the coffee beans are very fresh and I just used a little less coffee in my French press to counter the bolder taste. Good coffee and bang for your buck, I will purchase again.

It looks like I've bought SF Bay Coffee 21 times over the years. If I try another brand, I always come back. The price is always excellent, and the coffee has never disappointed (beans only please!). This Extra Dark Espresso really surpasses all their other delicious, satisfying coffees. I'm using it to refill Vertuo pods and it gives me excellent results.     • Not bad if you brew it right
Flavor Name: DECAF Gourmet Blend Size: 2 Pound (Pack of 1)
This product isn't bad and has a decent flavor but you have to brew this at the right strength otherwise it can taste like burnt rubber. I've brewed this using my espresso machine and a French press and got the same results. If you brew this too strong the roasted flavor becomes overpowered and tastes like burnt rubber. If you get that flavor just back off on grounds and water the coffee down a bit. Then you get a nice roastiness that is very pleasant. Giving this 3 stars due to the above issues. I guess I shouldn't complain based on the price. I may buy this again or get the espresso version but we'll see. ... show more

I was surprised the bag was so large when it arrived, but happy. Soon as I opened my bag, omg, it smelled so fresh and delicious! Right off the bat I was impressed. Only thing is, being a Breakfast blend I thought it would be more mellow, but it's stronger than expected. Now I just don't top off my scoop of beans to be ground and add a tad more water to my maker. Comes out tasty, not too acidic or bitter. Just right. ... show more

Flavor Name: DECAF French Roast Size: 2 Pound (Pack of 1)
When our old commercial Bunn died years ago we just substituted a manual process for what the thing did - a straight pour over. We take the old 12 cup stainless steel basket from the Bunn machine, put a 12 cup filter in it and fill it with 1.7 ounces of medium ground coffee in it (this decaf). We boil 1 liter of water in a tea kettle and pour it directly on to the coffee in the basket which is sitting on top of a stainless carafe - no fancy machines just a simple pour over operated by gravity. This process produces about three large cups of coffee. My wife and I no longer can differentiate between this decaf and regular coffee. Its the best coffee we've ever made. ... show more
