Description

Oil Plus 2C is a hardwax oil wood protector that colors and protects in only 1 single layer! Using advanced molecular bonding, it protects wood from water, heat and daily wear; tear. It is the best oil for wood furniture, hardwood flooring, tables, and just about anything made out of wood! Available in 55 standard colors Enhances the natural look and feel of the wood. 0% VOC, does not contain any water or solvents. Easy to maintain a natural wood finish because the oil is made of linseed. No overlaps or starting marks. Minimal use/High coverage: 300 - 500 ft²/L. Can be applied to almost all wood types. Great wear, water and heat resistance. Very fast curing: 80% in 2 days. A short maintenance period: after 5 days, the surface can be cleaned with water and Rubio Monocoat Soap. Pure is non-pigmented. Natural is pigmented with yellow/white tones.

The media could not be loaded. So I'm torn about this product. Everyone said a little goes a long way, but I had to mix up several small batches to get my table covered. I'm assuming that's because I figured it would go farther than I anticipated. Over all the mixing and applying is easy, it smells awful, but the color came out as I expected, or hoped I should say. The black gave my monkeypod table a dark walnut finish which is what I was going for. I'm just going to assume that my struggles were operator error and had nothing to do with the product. Get more than you think you'll need. That's for sure. I got the smallest bottle and it did what I needed it to do and I have a little left over. Rather too much than run out. Be prepared to do a ton of buffing to get all the excess oil off. The picture is before I took the old finish off, after sanding and then the black monocoat. ... show more

    • A little goes a long way

This product is very easy to apply, comes out beautiful on wood. We use syringes to measure that way we aren't wasting any. Again, a little goes a long way and even though it's only 350mL, you'll be able to do a lot with it.

    • Not enough activator.

I've seen complaints about there not being enough activator. They were right! If you mix this at a 3 to 1 ratio as suggested, you'll end up short on activator. The directions say "approximately 3 to 1 ratio". If you do the math the 275ml oil container would require roughly 91ml of activator to achieve the 3 to 1 ratio. This stuff will cure without activator but it takes a lot longer. My suggestion is to use a 4 to 1 ratio and then you'll end up with just a 5 ml left in the activaor can once the oil is used up. Many of us buy this to do small furniture projects. If you use a syringe or measuring spoons, 4 to 1 will work better. It will activate, albeit maybe a tad slower. If you use the whole thing at one time, just simply mix the contents of both together and stir. I love the finish this leaves on walnut. It's easy to use even in a dusty shop. No worries about dust landing in the finish as it just wipes off. ... show more

This monocoat finish performs as many reviews stated. It is very easy to apply or re-apply when necessary. Like most everyone else claimed, I thought the volume of the cans were insufficient for my furniture. The instructions caution that a very little goes a long way and it is true. Guesstimating the 3:1 mix is a mistake that will waste too much. Best advice is to use graduated syringes 10 ml or greater. Besides, at the cost of the product you do not want to be dumping any which has a short application time once mixed.
