This Ring product is an amazing value for what it's capable of. It's motion avtivated, video quality is excellent, and it even allows you to talk to the intruder or automatically warns them that they are being videotaped. The lights are extremely powerful and literally light up the place up like Fort Knoxx. It even activates a very loud siren if you choose that option as an additional deterrent. It is very user friendly and easy to set up. If intruders were to come close to it and knock it down with a stick, it will still record them long before they get close to it and identify them as an object or a person that can be used with the police department to make an arrest. You can also choose that it notifies the police department upon anything that activates it. This is a good feature for when you go away for the weekend. Video playback can be adjusted to zoom in to a particular area or show a very wide angle of coverage. The 240° field of view covers a very large area. I would suggest mounting it in an area that covers the rear and sides of your home (including the garage) where most intruders enter. It can even be mounted to a tree to give you a better angle of all corners of your home if you have power at that location and it is within Wi-Fi distance of your residence. If not, two cameras can be installed and operate in tandom. Overall, it's an incredible value and I plan on buying additional accessories to complete my security system at home and Business. It even has a community feature without disclosing your name that allows you to alert and receive notifications of your neighbors devices. This morning I got a notification that there was an intruder checking out cars in driveways in the immediate area. It has three settings that allow you to disarm it completely during the day and can be easily switched to home or away via your cell phone app for when you forget to arm it or you're inside the home at night time. You can arm it remotely when you are away if you forget to arm it at home. If you have an "indoor camera" in your home you can disarm the motion activation feature so it doesn't pick up every movement when you walk around the house at night while the rest of your system remains on. When you're away, the indoor camera/speaker function also gives you the ability to check on your pets and even talk to them through the speaker intercom built into the unit. Just received two of these flood light cams to replace existing failed flood lights. The physical install was straight forward. Ring included plenty of hardware. Once physically installed, the ring app was easy to install on my phone and the process to create the account and install the lights with cam was user friendly. I had no issues whatsoever. One installed physically and in the ring app, it was simple to link to my alexa smart home devices etc. Total time to install two lights with cams and get them working and interfaced with alexa was less than 3 hours. ... show more

I bought this to upgrade from the cheap builder grade backyard light that came with my new build home. The builder used a weird electrical box that was sunk into the side of my house too far to use the screws that came with this new light. I had to go to Home Depot to get longer screws for it to work. We have two of these cameras: one above the back garage door and one above the sliding door off of our family room. They both work great and we got them on sale, so the price wasn't bad at all. They offer a lot of light on the patio, and I like that you can turn the light off inside the app if you don't want it shining on you.     • Design Flaw with 2021 Model, Floodlights fall down

I have installed over 20 ring cameras for myself and friends mostly floodlight cameras. I have older model floodlight cameras where the light housing has teeth and a machine screw to hold them in position. But on this newer 2021 model there is no machine screw or teeth, it is friction. Unfortunately after only 1 year, both of these units have the same issue and the floodlight won't stay in position and point straight down due to gravity. I am now waiting over 30 days for replacement cameras. I had to purchase some separate motion lights to make up for the faulty cameras. ATTN RING ENGINEERS, Please go back to the original design with teeth and a machine screw. This is a very silly flaw that can easily be corrected. ATTN RING LOGISTICS: When you have new cameras for immediate shipment, don't make a loyal customer wait over 30 days to receive replacement cameras. This is very bad policy. I expect my faulty cameras to be replaced in 7 days or less. How can I rely on your devices if they down for 30+ days. This is UNACCEPTABLE and you can do way better. This light has all the bells and whistles you expect from Ring. It works with my alarm as well to provide an additional siren outside, which is plenty loud and piercing. The motion detection is assistance as with most Ring cameras and also has stand alone controls for the lights. Great product.
