Great game, looks great with the remastered touch. With undead nightmare, it's a definite deal. Coming from RDR2 makes it tough at first because the controls are different in a few ways.

Lower your expectations if you played RDR2 first. But some of the simplicity in the game is nicer in some ways.

    • Imperfect But Least We Have It on Modern Consoles?
This game is a port of the original version from PS3/360 console from over a decade back. The performance on this version was a tossup, but it is playable. And then the absence of online features, while sad, means you will strictly come to this just for the game and the Undead Nightmare expansion. With whatever patches/updates/fixes there are available online to make the game work, you're going to get the best version that is playable to date for the PS4 (the Xbox's latest series will play the original 360 disk with little/no issue). And we even got a version for the Nintendo Switch. Is the game a lot of fun? Yes it is. However, for those who played RDR2 (which is meant to be the prequel to this game), the look of the game, and the tone at times, does differ from RDR2 to RDR. Nevertheless, you'll be prepared to feel again in another amazing experience. ... show more

I will preface this review by saying I am happy we got something new regarding RDR. It isn’t a remaster, which is unfortunate. However, a port with enhancements is truly better than nothing at all. The graphics are incredible compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. We must remember that this is a 13-year-old game and temper our expectations slightly. I’ve been playing this for the last few weeks, and I have to say there are moments while I am riding on horseback where I forget that I am playing RDR 1 because the graphics look just as good as RDR2 in certain spots. I’ve been playing this on the PS5 on a 4K OLED at 60fps, and it is ultra smooth. You can’t pass up this game if you’ve been an RDR fan from the beginning. I’ll admit I waited for the price to make more sense before purchasing, but I’m so happy to play RDR again finally. I’d love to continue to write about how awesome this game is and how much fun it’s been going on this nostalgia-filled adventure, but I must get back to helping Nigel Wes Dickens. ... show more

i bought this as a gift for my husband to play and the whole family ended up watching it like it was a movie. the graphics was a little dated but it is an older game so it was to be expected. the best part is that he got to complete everything that the game had to offer and it wasn't overly difficult. i feel like this game is worth trying out . ... show more
