Yes, the PlayStation super slim is not the most durable of the PlayStation consoles, but do you have plans of taking it on backpacking trips through the Alps? Or maybe gaming with your friends in the middle of a UFC style cage match? If not, then you most likely have nothing to worry about. If you're like me, a responsible adult who takes care of his electronics, I can't see how you could go wrong with this system. The console is a little less durable than the others, but it comes with a 250 gig hard drive, one of the best games produced for it and a great Blu-ray player. Those three things combined with the price tag was what lured me to it. If you're planning to give this to a small child, then you may want to invest in one of the other PS3 consoles that are a little more sturdy. If you're someone who plans to smash it with a ball-peen hammer from time to time for no real reason, or if you're a person who prefers to spend more money and get less, then this system is not for you (and by the way, you're a moron). This is my first PS3. I couldnt pass up on the bundle. It was too good of a deal and plus the model was better and more up to date. Ill say the cons first in my opinion. The sliding door for the disc tray. Not really feeling it because its kinda hard to take the discs out without touching or smudging the other side of the disc. I always handle my discs with care and even though ive found a way to take the discs out without smudging i feel they shouldve had the kind of mechanism the PS2 had. Its easy putting the discs in though. Secondly is overheating. It gets hot way too fast. Like five minutes fast. I dont play for more than an hour at a time if i can help it. My white 360 can stay on for a good amount of hrs and not get hot but thats becuz the fans are bigger. This PS needs bigger fans. Makes it harder for it to be an entertainment console for Blu Ray movie nites. The sound when the game is loading is loud. Not loud enough to wake the household but once thats over it is as quiet as mice. Gr8 console though ... show more

When I first ordered this bundle, I only did it because for $20 extra than the cheapest new system, you got 90 extra GB of memory, plus Uncharted 3. I didn't know until I opened the box that it would be a brand new system design all together. The first thing you'll notice is that the body itself is smaller than the second generation PS3s. The plastic material it uses does seem a little bit cheaper and thinner than the older generations, but this is a Playstation, not a car, so that doesn't really tend to matter. The aesthetic design reminds me of a Sega Genesis. The second biggest difference is the disc tray. The disc loading function is no longer a slot-based system like you would have in a car stereo, but rather, the entire right-hand side of the top of the system slides open and you set the disc inside. I really like this because one of the most common hardware errors with all of the game systems is failure of the disc loading mechanics. This should guarantee that won't be an issue. The third biggest change would be the power used by the machine. I'm not sure of the technical specifications, but it runs cooler and quieter than the last iteration of the console, and DEFINITELY runs about 95% quieter than the original PS3, which sounded like a jet engine whether you were playing a game or not. As for the Uncharted portion of the bundle, it's pretty much just the game in its own box, plus some downloadable extras because it's the Game of the Year portion. I haven't gotten to play Uncharted 3 yet, but I'm sure it's great based on reviews and the first two. At the time of purchase, I paid $269 for this. To get this awesome new PS3 plus one of the biggest games of the year felt like a steal. ... show more

Purchased this as a replacement for our old ps3 system that died. It is the new style ps3, which is different than the slim and the original thicker one. It's smaller but not as small as the slim, and the placement/design of how the disc goes in is different as well. Instead of inserting games/discs into a slot and having the whole thing enclosed as in the previous models, the disc tray opens from the top of the ps3 and you set the disc inside, and the reader is exposed during this process. I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or bad. :/ it does seem to be less finicky about playing scratched discs/games and is probably easier to repair if the bluray goes out. As far as the ps3 itself, ps3's are wonderful systems (no matter what model you have) free online gaming, lots of titles to choose from, and it doubles as a blu ray player and can also stream Netflix. What more could you want from a game console? With this particular bundle, uncharted 3 game of the year edition was included. My kids love it, as they have the previous editions of uncharted. Only complaint on that end is that it has some sort of lock where you can only play this game online from a maximum of 3 different consoles. This was an issue since we had the old ps3 that died activated under our psn ID, the other ps3 that's downstairs, and the ps3 that they play at their dads house. There was no way that I could find to deactivate the old ps3 since it doesn't turn on, so they had to deactivate the one at their dads then couldn't play online until they got back home. Finally they were able to activate the new ps3 and play it online. But still one of the current ps3's that they play can't be activated because I can't figure out how to get the old one off of the psn ID. I miss the old days when psn was first starting out and you could play on any console, and the game content was only tied to your ID name. Other than that issue, great game and great console. We are very pleased with our purchase, and as always, amazon had a great price and it got here fast! ... show more
