  • Good product, harness is the worst.
Size: 42.7CC 2-Cycle
Good product. takes down small trees, weeds, etc...a lot of power. The harness is uncomfortable and makes it feel 3x as heavy. Get a single shoulder strap ASAP - huge difference. I can go until it's out of gas with a shoulder strap vs. the harness where I had to put it down frequently. it's also much easier to guide with a better strap. ... show more

  • PROYAMA sent a used unit as replacement. It started on very first try and is still starting easily!
Size: 42.7CC 2-Cycle
Assembled easily, started easily first 3 times we used it . it ran fine. I could not get it to start after about 45 minutes of total run time. Motor would fire a little but not run -no matter how much we dried it out or how fresh the fuel was or how we manipulated the choke; it was getting fuel as mix vapor was seen coming out of exhaust . We checked: sparkplug, swapped spark plug with a known good plug - no joy isolated ignition from switch- no joy pulled it apart- verified flywheel key had not sheared, verified magneto airgap etc, piston and rings looked virgin . installed new coil today -same deal- no start- it would sound as if firing but wouldnt kick off and run. unit has spark but seems very weak Pulled carb apart with no issues apparent. all diaphragms flexy and clean. Inlet needle arm level with casting. high speed needle in good condition. Now in process of re-setting mixture screws. Unit has plenty of compression but will check with gage today. Piston and rings still cherry as seen thru the intake port. If i can figure out why the sumbitch wont start i will revise my rating but there is another reviewer had same exact problem but do not know what his resolution was. Epilogue: Proyama customer service (very polite and sincere) have offered to refund me money OR send me a refurbed/second hand unit. Yes , fool that I am , I accepted their offer of the second hand unit. I cant resist...this damn thing should run..it DID run fine the first tank of gas! I am going to fix it or die trying. Maybe I end up with two piles of junk and a bruised ego or maybe I end up with at least one serviceable unit plus a pile of spare parts. Meantime I am still looking for my little doggie. The grass has now grown so tall I cant even see the tip of her tail above the grass...I know she is out there somewhere...... I will bump to 5 stars if this second unit actually runs. I bump to 3 stars for now because these guys really seem to be genuinely trying to help me. Also now that I have had this unit broken down I can say the construction is good and does not see to be full of cheap shortcuts. Piston has two rings. Overall Machining is good /clean. I think it will give good service if I can get it to run. EPILOGUE: Proyama offered to send me at no charge a good refurbished unit. I accepted of course. It looks brand new but the locking knob for shaft extension is damaged , probably from shipping. But otherwise this unit has never been used! I gassed it up and it started right up with only a half of a pull. I have stopped and started it 10-12 times , all easy single pull starts. I took the carb off of this unit and put it on my original unit--same deal--firs but wont kick off and run. Now very puzzled. So I set the original carb up just like the replacement unit's carb and will re-install and try again. I also intend to pressure/vacuum check the crankcase to see if maybe the crank seals(s) failed. At first pass it still behaves as if not getting enough gas...... Also when I put the replacement unit's carb back on the replacement unit it again started and ran nicely! I am bumping to 5 stars as I think the unit is well made and PROYAMA'S CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EXCELLENT. I will update the review as I dig deeper into the original unit's issue. ... show more

  • Well worth the price
Size: 40CC 4-Cycle
I have 3/4 acres of hilly, forested land with lots of undergrowth that I needed to clear. Did a fair amount of research on various tools. Settled on this one. Read all the negative feed back. I consider this an excellent buy for the price. Came with lots of extras. Cheap extras but useful. It took two or three uses to get the harness, machine balance and handle adjustment to my liking. I am 71 so clearly any work like this is tiring. The machine starts first pull every time. I can slash through anything 1 inch or smaller with no hesitation. I have cut saplings as big as 3 inches with a bit of care. The machine is well built and should last a long time if operated properly and with proper maintenance. I'm not a fan of buying Chinese products but if they make good stuff at a tremendous savings it's hard to resist. ... show more

  • Lot's of power, worst manual in history, bad customer service, terrible product.
Size: 42.7CC 2-Cycle
Review update: After a few uses, the tube covering the shaft failed where the two pieces joined. It took over a month to get the problem fixed. First I emailed the company and did not hear back. Later they informed me that my email went into their junk folder. They offered to send me a used replacement part, but I held out for a new one. It worked with the new part, but vibrated a lot. The gasket on the shaft fitting wanted to come out (see photo) I have only used this trimmer about 30 times, and today the vibration suddenly got very bad , like something was out of balance. I looked down, and lubricating oil was coming out of the fitting where the two shafts join (see picture). The only opinion I can offer is that the poor customer service is exceeded only by the terrible quality of the product itself. The good: - Very powerful. I was able to cut through thickets of blackberries, stems up to an inch and a half in diameter, with no problems. I bumped a cedar fence picket by accident, and it cut right into it. - Comes with lots of accessories. - For me it started easily every time. Others have indicated it floods easily. I give the fuel pump two presses, pull it one time with the choke on, and then once with the choke off. It has always started on the second pull - The included fuel bottle makes it easy to mix the oil and gasoline in the proper ratio (fill the two compartments appropriately and then pour the whole thing into the fuel tank. The bad: - The manual makes ikea instructions look like a NASA manual. The depiction of how the handlebars go on was different in different pictures. It took me several tries to get the handlebars on correctly and figure out how to get the nut off the end of the shaft (there is a hole in the housing through which you can insert a small rod or phillips screwdriver and insert it also into a matching hole in the shaft to hold the shaft in place while you loosen the nut). I wasted an hour or so figuring out how to assemble it. Thank you youtube for saving me. - There is foam padding on the shaft above the handlebars. I braced the shaft against my hip or thigh during use, and the padding tore and fell off after an hour or so. - The blade guard can be a hinderance in brush. - It vibrates a lot, which is expected, but be prepared for residual muscle and finger numbness and shakiness after using it for a while. The bottom line: It works great, and for me has been worth the price and hassle. I have only used it with the chainsaw tooth blade on Himalayan blackberries. But it laid waste to the brambles with no hesitation or resistance. I was able to sweep it back and forth through brambles up to 6 feet high and left behind a trail of foot long stem chunks. You definitely want to respect this machine. It can kickback. It can throw debris. It is noisy. And if it hit a body part, it would do serious damage. Heavy clothes, googles or a face shield, and good ear plugs are all musts. The harness has a crotch protector for a reason. The goggles that come with it were too cheap for me to trust. ... show more
