  • Lots of space and super easy to assemble!
Bought this to make a catio for my tiny home so the kitties have more room to roam! It was impressively easy to put together! It took me (with minimal assistance from my boyfriend) about and hour and a half to assemble and move it. It was an instant hit with the cats! It is not the sturdiest once built; be careful when you move it because if you pull too hard or push in on the side too much you might break the screws that hold the panels together. This was a very small issue for me, as it only really is a concern when moving the piece and only then so much because the roof is very heavy and sturdy, which makes the whole assembly heavier to move. But I plan to reinforce the corners with some L brackets from Lowes, which are inexpensive and will do a lot toward making it super solid. I have had no troubles with it so far and it's been installed for about a month. What I also think is a huge pro here is that it will be super easy to disassemble when I eventually move, and easy to reassemble later (even without directions!). In order to make it sit flush with my tiny home outside wall I scooted the roof panels over about an inch so there was no overhang on that side. This meant I had to leave out the dowels that are meant to add extra stability and alignment to the roof panels but honestly, with so many screws, they're not going anywhere anyway. Another thing I changed was that I added sturdier, padlock friendly latches in addition to the ones they provided (see pics). I wanted to add a bit more security so people couldn't mess with my cats and also because I was paranoid the neighborhood kids might open the door and forget to close it properly. Super easy and inexpensive to do! Overall, a very large, easy to assemble, sleek catio and good bang for your buck! ... show more

  • Works great as a bedroom for our 16 lb indoor cat!
Our cat has a tendency to get into trouble, so we wanted an enclosure for him to stay in at night and this was the best one I could find. He loves hanging out in here and goes in on his own to relax on the perches. Because we're not using it outside, I can't rate how durable it is when subjected to the elements. But it has been plenty sturdy for our 16 lb cat (who was 19 lbs for a little while) even without using the roof pieces. It shakes a little bit when he hops up and down, but not too much. Assembly was also fairly easy for 2 people. It has space for his very large litter box to fit underneath the platforms as well as his food and water dishes. The enclosure was designed to have the 3 platforms at different alternating heights, but because of his size and to have more space on the floor, we drilled extra holes so we could put two platforms side by side at the middle level. This way he can stretch out more comfortably. He still likes to squeeze onto the top level with only one platform, although he doesn't really fit. ... show more

  • Focus Needed for Assembly - Check other reviews for assembly hints
It took me about 5 hours to build this catio. I only needed help when bolting the shelves on. The instructions are all visual, no text. You need to look very carefully at the images to be sure that the panels are connected correctly. The indicators can be subtle, such as a row of dots indicating screw holes. I used several spring clamps to hold the panels while I screwed them together. I drilled pilot holes for all the screws. With so many screws a cordless drill is strongly recommended. All the parts were well labeled and there were extra screws in most sizes. I installed it outside near a sliding glass door for access. I left off one small panel on a bottom corner so the cats could enter through a pet flap. I don't know how well it will hold up to Southern CA weather. It seems reasonably sturdy, but I might decide to anchor it to the ground or add a floor to further stabilize it. ... show more

  • Best value and easy to modify, if not the sturdiest
I looked at a ton of catios before purchasing this one. No, it's not the sturdiest (you have to be pretty careful moving it, and it always feels like it's about to shift apart), but it's super easy to put together and modify. Plus it's not like you'll need to move it often. Modifications I did: - Swapped out the leaky asphalt roof for a clear polycarbonate roof (Home Depot sells one that fits it perfectly with no trimming needed) - Cut a hole in the wire so that the cats can come and go freely through a cat door in the screen of my window - Added one extra shelf to the back wall where the cats enter it from - Put sticky carpet down on the shelves. I have two older cats who needed the extra grip I put a bed in the bottom, as well as some cat grass and catnip plants, and my cats all spend hours out there, enjoying the weather year-round (I routinely have to go pull my youngest cat back inside to eat dinner or she would spend all night out there!). The wood that makes up the frame is pretty soft, so it's easy to add whatever you want to it. I saw some people complain about the locks and they're a little fiddly, but I haven't had any issue with them at all. ... show more
