    • Generally Good, a Bit Pricey for its Cycle Life
This is a generally good battery. Like all brand-name batteries, you will pay much more for it than third-party substitutes. It generally has good life, but not as much as what I get from Sony or Fuji batteries. If you can get it on sale, its a definite must, but if not, my rule of thumb is always this: carry two BRAND batteries and two THIRD-PARTY batteries. That gives you the best of both worlds without having to spend a small fortune. Use the brand batteries first, and if you run out of juice on them both, move to the third-party batteries last. There are tons on crummy third-party batteries out there, some of which are actually fraudulent in their ratings, others which simply don't perform up to original specifications. After twenty years of shooting on Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fuji, and Olympus, my third-party brand of choice is DEFINITELY Wasabi. They have always performed very well (near to original for all the ones I've used), are very reasonably priced, and often come with a charger that is better than the original. Case in point? Try: Wasabi Power Battery (2-Pack) and Dual USB Charger for Olympus BLS-5, BLS-50, PS-BLS5 , which gives you TWO batteries, a dual charger, and a USB cable for $25. So, I say, buy that second Olympus battery (here), and then the Wasabi two-pack with charger, and you should be all set! ... show more

    • I am somewhat exhausted; I wonder how a battery feels when it pours electricity into a non-conductor?
This is a battery, it functions well at powering most olympus mirrorless cameras. I'm not sure if it will work on all of them because I'm a reviewer dammit, not a fact checker. But I use it just fine on my OMD EM10. Technically this battery has slightly more capacity than the stock BLS-10 or BLS-1 I used to use on my EP2. In the real world this doesn't provide too much extra power, maybe a few extra shots or longer stand by time; but it's negligible. I still recommend you by this over any of Olympus batteries since this is the newest model which means it's also theoretically the newest battery stock as well. You don't want to be buying a 3 year old battery, even if it's "new" it will still have lost some capacity. The battery I received was manufactured within 6 months of when I bought it which is good. However I cannot rate this 5 stars, the price is still way too high for what you're getting. I love Olympus' cameras and lenses but some of their accessories are very overpriced considering how poor battery life is on most micro four thirds cameras. ... show more

    • Would not charge
Received this battery, put it in the proper Olympus charger and got a blinking light indicating "error." Put it in my new camera and it had no power and would not start up. Battery manufacture date indicates Dec. 2015 - over a year ago! I'm returning it. I will try a replacement and hope for a better result. I'll let you know next week. Very disappointing! Received the replacement battery - the return process was very easy. The new battery, while still showing a manufacture date of December 2015, charged up just fine and powers my camera like it should. Thus, changed my rating from one to four stars. ... show more

    • Good but is it worth the cost?
I should be waiting before writing a review since I really have not used the batter much. I bought it for a future project However the battery fit into the battery slot with no problems (or swellling as some report with cheaper batteries). It seems to hold an adequate charge too. I am still having difficulty justifying the price, though. ... show more

I got these as a replacement for the batteries that I accidentally fried in a universal charger. They were great. I'm so glad that I was able to get them. I have an extra now, which I'm also very happy with.

    • Lasts longer than 3rd party batteries
I got the way more expensive official Olympus battery because I have been VERY disappointed with third party batteries in the past not lasting anywhere near as long. In the PEN E-PL6 the battery lasts a long time. As a backup battery I never run out when out and about.

Absolutely no problem with this battery. I needed a second for my camera so I didn't have to worry so much about my only one dying on me. I've used it many times. It's identical to the one that came with the camera and I can no longer tell them apart. Wise purchase!
