This is not the first Nuwave.I’ve purchased. I’m happy return customer. I have several. Being retired at home I have 2 nuwaves going all the time except for when I’m sleeping or leave the house. The main use for me is heating and boiling water. I have 2 large stock pots. One is dedicated for providing hot water for dishes the other for making coffee- lots of coffee, cone filter drip made. The reason for doing dishes is , I do my dishes-etc by hand wash. I have 25ft of pipe from my hot water heater to my kitchen sink. So to get hot water coming out of the tap I literally dump about 1.5 gallons of water or more down the drain. Well you say no big deal , I say see my water bill. I have one of the highest cost per gallon water costs in the nation. I’ve been doing this in one form or another for years. I figured I save 250.00 dollars per year on average on my water bill. So what I do is take hot water out of my 20qt stock pot about 100oz put it in my wash basin then I refill the stock pot with water out of the hot water side of my kitchen faucet. That amount is just right to get hot water for rinsing off my dishes after washing by hand . Just by doing that I save hundreds of gallons of water per year. I normally don’t do dishes every day but wait till I have enough to do a big wash. Just washing one or two eating utensils a day is vary costly in water consumption. Now you might say but you have all those dishes that you do by hand and it takes time-???. I say NO it doesn’t. On a real bad day 25 minutes. Most of the time 15 minutes on average. And the water I use is boiling hot and after wash / and rinse they are so hot they just air dry in a few minutes. So that’s why I run my nuwave cook tops 12 hours a day or more. It’s actually 90% more cost effective then a dishwasher, I did the math on that. That’s my story. ... show more

I only tried it once so far. Boiled water for a test. Check. Had a Dux before, the square one. It seemed more of a full-power-only that was just pulsed based on your temp setting. It boiled water pretty fast but everything that wasn't liquid was burned. This unit looks to have a lot more control with different settings for both the power and cooking setting. I bought this specifically in case of a power failure. We have a 4250w propane generator with a 30amp plug. This unit has the ability to operate at 600, 900 or 1300 watts. I can use this induction hot plate and adjust wattage depending on my generator load. On my first test, my carbon steel and cast iron both heated up quickly and evenly. I also have a 700w LiFe-PO4 solar battery that will operate this cooktop on the lowest wattage. More to come. ... show more

Purchased this to validate value proposition of induction cooking. As a proof of concept, price was definitely a factor. This unit has really exceeded expectations - in conjunction with cookware that was also induction-rated. Temperature control is spot-on, and one can quickly go from a 'rolling boil' to a 'simmer', and cook without burning. Only downside - and this is specific to the genre - is that you need 'induction rated' pots and pans, which obsoletes much of existing collection. Not a fault of this unit - but still a transition cost. Love the way the heat goes into the food and not the kitchen - a big improvement over traditional stovetops. ... show more
