Frequently asked questions

The HP Pavilion powered by the Intel Pentium Silver N5000 processor, with 4GB RAM and a 128GB SSD, is ideal for everyday computing tasks like web browsing, working with documents and spreadsheets, or streaming media. Its specs are tailored for general-use activities rather than high-end gaming or video editing.

While the HP Pavilion comes with a 128GB SSD, many laptop models allow for storage upgrades. To find out if this model supports a storage upgrade, it's best to consult the laptop's service manual or check with HP's customer support for detailed instructions and compatibility.

Yes, the HP Pavilion comes with Windows 10 pre-installed, providing immediate access to Microsoft's suite of applications and features right out of the box.

The 'Red' in the product title refers to the color of the laptop's casing. It is a stylistic choice and doesn't indicate a special edition or different hardware specifications beyond the color.

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

Overall, the product received mixed reviews, many of which highlighted its good performance and appealing aesthetic, with several users expressing satisfaction after updating the system. However, there were significant complaints about its slow speed, unresponsiveness to tasks, system crashing, and the lack of a lit keyboard. It garnered an average rating of 4 out of 5 stars from most of the reviewers, indicating that despite certain drawbacks, it still garnered generally favorable responses.

Pros

  • 👍 Affordable and provides value for its cost
  • 🌈 Aesthetically pleasing with its nice red color
  • 🚀 Works well and smoothly after a system update
  • 💻 Good for simple tasks like email, reading articles, and shopping
  • 💡 Includes one year of free Microsoft

Cons

  • 💤 Very slow and unresponsive to commands
  • ❌ Problems with system crashing frequently
  • 🌙 Lack of a lit keyboard
  • 🔐 Comes with Windows 10 S Mode enabled by default
  • 🔡 No Num Lock indicator and tends to turn off on its own

Should I Buy It?

If you're in search for a reasonably-priced laptop for simple tasks and can tolerate potential slow performance initially before updating the system, then this product might be suitable for you. However, if you require fast response and perform more complex tasks, the performance issues, especially the system crashing could be a concern. Overall, consider your needs and expectations carefully before deciding.

  • Doesn't come with a power cord.
Color: Red
I bought this to replace another laptop that was falling apart. Good thing - I just used the old one's power cord for this one (They're both HP). I'm most aggravated at Microsoft. Edge being the available browser, I tried to download Firefox, but when I tried to go to the Firefox website, MS Edge kicked me off my own freakin' WIFi. The trick is Windows was in "S" mode - you have to log on to MS's website to "switch" out of S mode. From then on, I was able to download the stuff I needed. It's a nice red color, the keyboard is silver with darker silver markings, so the light has to be hitting the keyboard just right, unless you're REALLY good at touch typing. The other thing I have a problem with is there's no indicator that the NUM LOCK is off or on, and it likes to turn itself off, even if you change the registry to make it stay on...so you're happily typing away and need to enter some numbers, you move over to the numeric keypad and start to type numbers and the cursor goes all over the place, especially if you want "7", you're unexpectedly at the top of the page. Other than that, the only other problems I'm having is due to my obsolete software I don't want to give up. LOL. All in all, I'd recommend this computer. ... show more

Took awhile to connect bc I couldn't remember my password. I get 1 yr Microsoft free on this and I just paid $69.99 for a yr prior to buying so I'll see if I can get my $69.99 back. Seems like nice laptop

  • GREAT Value!
Color: Red
This was listed as ‘Used - Good Condition’ . And if this is what they deem good I would love to see what they list as As New or Great or Very Good …. Seriously… not a scratch… nothing wrong at all. The only thing I’ve noticed is perhaps the battery life is reduced just as all even new laptops, the battery life is decreased within the 1st month or so, but still, it’s around 6 hours. I am very happy with my purchase. I have not had to use their customer service as of yet but that is a good sign LOL ... show more

  • AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE WASTE OF MONEY!!!
Color: Scarlet Red
Updated review: So, after more than 100 hours on the phone with HP, wiping everything, resetting and reinstalling windows 5 times, 3 weeks in HP's (supposed) repair center (sent a 2 page list of problems and not a single one resolved!), and countless hours waiting for it to do something, anything, I have a useless computer. HP did not repair as they said, they will not replace it and they will not refund my money. This computer is so slow I can literally go put in a load of laundry at the other end of the house after clicking a file to open and when I get back, it still won't be open. I click on a file to open it and dropbox opens, or click a word file and a pdf (not even located in the same folder!) opens. Shuts itself off in the middle of something, won't turn back on, takes up to 20 min to wake up in the morning, and somehow reboots while it's supposed to be asleep and loses anything I've left open. It constantly closes my wifi in the middle of working online, every program I use either shuts down or freezes, I use 3 different browsers and spend most of my time trying to exit out of them when they become unresponsive (this happens at least a dozen times a day with all browsers), can't get task manager to open and if it does (surprise!), it's unresponsive. The list goes on. And HP will do nothing. Previous review: Incredibly slow right out of the box...takes 12-17 minutes to boot up even when not updating, often will not wake up from hibernation, when it does it can take several minutes, 2+ minutes to open a program or app--I'm spending at least 1/4 of my time waiting for it to do what I've asked-- I leave a program for a few minutes and get a white page and no response when I come back...have to close program and start over, crashes completely frequently, won't open task manager or close programs when I try to, settings suddenly change, jumps from between programs suddenly (key pad has been disabled), sends emails before I've hit send, suddenly highlights everything, closes programs/apps suddenly losing information, I go to type something and it takes 2-3 minutes for it to register on the screen, can't open browsers, have to click things half a dozen times before they open....I frequently give up and go back to my old Dell. • Love the red color, my daughter asked can I get pink?
Color: Red
I’ve updated this their team to do business with! I needed a new laptop to run a arcade style dance game. This laptop is loaded with everything and more than I need. When I had a couple questions they got back to me pretty quick with the needed answers. The price was fair. It seems seldom you get any kind of personal service on amazon, dehumanized most of time. These guys do a good job injecting some humanization back into the game. Lot of things are done through not releasing email addresses. I got direct response via my cellphone, I’m not going to mention his or her name. They made very clear asking if I was happy with purchase, made my day, seldom do you get a response like that, and expressing concern if anything else I needed. Thanks! ... show more

  • Works for what it is needed for
Color: Red
Bought this for a friend living in East Africa that needed it for their child to get back into school (COVID had the schools shut in their area for over a year and a half and only the lucky kids with a computer and internet access keep getting educated). I never even opened the box, but kept it sealed so it would go through customs via a passenger's luggage, easier. However, they have no complaints about it! Works amazing for what they need it for. Great little "cheap" laptop for sure! ... show more
