This camera is worth every penny. It has motion, and sound detection and also monitors the nursery’s humidity and temperature. It even comes with a night light and can play white noise (although the speaker is crap, I’d invest in a proper sound machine.) It also comes with a velcro band that you can place around your baby that has a pattern on it that the camera monitors for pixel changes to tell if the baby is breathing. The app is easy to use and can be shared with your spouse. Installation and setup was easy. I love that it comes with cord covers for safety so your little one doesn’t get into the wiring. If you've got more money than sense, this is a simple baby monitor that promises you plenty of features and delivers on very few. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for basic features, and especially if you're looking for stability and reliability. This product, and indeed the company that sells it, is designed to separate first time parents from their money by selling peace of mind in convenient add-on packages. Everything is designed to nickle-and-dime you for each potential feature, including all of the features they promise in the description. It is very unclear that this is the case until you actually install and use the app. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that you will only be buying this product as an introductory charge -- It costs $300/year extra to store videos for 7 days. The most basic features are pay-gated behind nonsense fees. The package you get for buying this overpriced monitor only lasts a few months, and then all of your features get disabled if you don't fork up another payment. Want sleep tracking? Pay extra. This barely works, by the way. The Nanit app says the baby's fast asleep even if they aren't even in the crib. Want breathing tracking? Pay extra. Also it only works with their specific Nanit-brand clothing. Activity tracking? Pay extra. How about the Day Dashboard? Well, that's included as long as you use the wall mount. If you found the wall mounting sub-par and vaguely unsafe like a lot of these reviewers, you'd probably be better off buying the Multi Stand (which of course costs extra) to replace the wall-mount, and safely placing it out of the baby's reach. If you've changed mounting stands, the Day Dashboard feature is not available anymore, even if it's mounted at an identical location and orientation. There's an online portal so you can view your cameras in a browser, but it does not work 80% of the time and will present you with a loading screen. It will also kick you out every few hours and enforce a new MFA log-in using your phone, completely nullifying the benefit of this feature. The physical design of the the wall mount is a cheap cable-hider and a wall-attaching head unit with a chip in it to tell the camera you bought the stand and not one of their significantly cheaper (and more reliable) competitors. It's flimsy, and eager to fall apart at a moment's notice. The camera head isn't attached by anything substantial, just two prongs and a USB C power connector. It will fall off frequently if you don't tape it on with electrical tape. The camera has no batteries, and will fail the moment the head unit is disconnected from a power source, which will frequently happen due to small vibrations. So what exactly are you paying for? A half-working baby monitor and the privilege to buy additional add-ons for each of the features they list in the description. The company would be happy to send you marketing on all of their products, and some of the easily-searchable tips on baby care for free though! If you purchased the monitor ahead of the baby's birth, you cannot return it. Stylish paperweight, though. ... show more

Prior to biting the bullet and spending the $$$ for this monitor, I had tried a few other Wifi baby monitors, but was terribly unsatisfied with them. The Owlet Cam app would freeze the sound or video feed randomly and cause me to miss my baby crying (Owlet customer service told me to just restart the app, but if I'm ASLEEP I can't do that!) The VTECH Wifi cam I used, I was convinced it was defective because it just wouldn't stay connected to the receiver in my 800 square foot apartment. They sent me a replacement and it had the same issue. And when that one disconnects, it beeps pretty loudly to wake you up. One night I didn't sleep at all because it just wouldn't reconnect so I went and laid in my baby's room. I even got an expensive Wifi Mesh system with 4 satellites and this did not solve the connectivity issue, so that got returned as well. Anyway, now that you know the history, let's look at the Nanit. I had wanted a Nanit from the start, but it's just so expensive compared to all the others! But when I went and did research and read reviews, I couldn't find one that I could guarantee would work for me. After the Owlet issue I was hesitant to use a product that didn't have a physical receiver, but I decided I would just try it, and if it didn't work then I would return it. Bottom line: I am absolutely blown away by how good this camera is! The picture quality is good even at night, the app has never once crashed or frozen, and there is a backup connection (local mode) if the Wifi ever fails (which sometimes it does say it lost connection, but I never lose my feed if I'm in the house). Nanit also provides a lot more important information (IMO) than the Owlet Cam did. I don't have the Nanit subscription, but the information I get from the basic app is perfect. It shows when baby wakes up, whether baby was put to bed asleep, time to fall asleep (if they weren't already asleep), how long baby was out of bed, and when significant sounds were picked up (crying, etc). The paid version gives you deeper analytics of baby's sleep habits, if you want that. The app does allow background sound so you can listen with the screen locked or while using another app, which is very helpful! I will say that my husband and I pretty quickly disabled motion and sound notifications on our phones because they were very spammy and not that useful for us. I cannot review the breathing band, since my baby was too big for the one that came with it, and now that he's older I don't worry that he's going to stop breathing every night. As you can see the picture quality is 10/10 and it also monitors room temp and humidity. Also plays several different soothing sounds. Also other great features like daily summary also alert notifications for crying, standing up or moving too! I highly recommend it
