This seed starting mix works the best for me. I achieve the highest rate of seedling survivability with it. I've tried coco coir, but it dries out too quickly, resulting in the death of some seedlings. I also experimented with peat pods, but they are too susceptible to dampening off. Even when I attempted to create my own seed starting mix using store-bought peat moss and perlite, all my seedlings were ultimately consumed by some type of mold. With this starting mix, I don't even need to sterilize it. I simply use tap water to hydrate it, and I encounter almost no issues with dampening off or seedlings drying out. The only thing I wish is that Amazon would sell these in bulk because the current bags don't last very long. ... show more

So far so good. Like the mix. Used it with other mix to fill pot so don’t know how it performs on it’s own. It’s not overloaded with pearlite or other debris. Peat based. Garlic in pot growing well so far. It appears to me that it would be a fine starting mix. I wouldn't have a problem using it for that from what I see. It was dry on arrival. No concern because I wasn’t using it by itself. But saw some reviews about it. Used peat based mix before by itself. When dry in bag. Takes a while to absorb water again. Beads up on surface when dried out. Don’t despair. Give it a little time. ... show more
