  • This is a fabulous product
Size: 0.67 cu. Ft. Style: Planting Mix
This stuff is incredible. A few weeks ago, I planted two tomato plants in large pots- side by side on my patio. One using regular MIRACLE GRO soil and one using MIRACLE GRO EXPAND 'N GRO. Both plants are doing well- however the one in the EXPAND 'N GRO is almost double the size. I was so impressed I just ordered (and received) another bag of the soil. It holds moisture well and is a wonder for the plants planted in it!!! ... show more

  • My garden gets a great start

It's sometimes very worth it to start fresh, then add your own organics, love this.

  • No expansion
Size: 0.67 cu. Ft. Style: Planting Mix
Don't know how well it works for plants yet but it didn't expand at all and it's been over 12 hours since I mixed it with water. I purchased the larger bag thinking I'd have some left over after filling two pots but not enough to fill even two. Hopefully it's good for growing but I guess I'll find out! ... show more

  • Not labeled accurately - Beware
Size: 0.33 cu. Ft (Pack of 1) Style: Planting Mix
First thing I read regarding this product's qualities: Great substitute for garden soil or potting mix. After purchasing 5 bags of this product and planting my 3 ea./20" containers I've learned that this is a soil additive. Everything is already planted and in place. Now all I can do is cross my fingers and hope my plants thrive. How misleading to advertise as a soil substitute! Hoping to ensure healthy plants I have combined a topping of chopped hay, Organic Worm Castings - All Natural Soil Amendment, Soil Builder, and Fertilizer, 3 Pound Bag, black dirt and no float Cyprus mulch. Also mixed hay mulch in the planting mix as well. Added Jobe's 06328 Bone Meal Fertilizer Spikes, 50, Natural and utilized Safer Brand 5450-6 Garden Fungicide Ready to Use 32 Ounces as a safety upgrade to stop any mulch mildew, etc. Now what to do next year as these are perennials and I do not have available free dirt of my own as I live in an apartment. What I should have done in the first place is purchase black dirt and combined that with this product. Ugh, always one step forward and 50 steps back. Hoping that my patio garden has not become my money pit :( I have begun my begonia bulbs indoors with the assistance of the Grow Light for Indoor Plant Growing LED Grow Light 9 Dimmable Settings, Horizontal Plant Growth Lamp for Indoor Plants with Red/Blue Spectrum, Adjustable Gooseneck, 3/9/12H Timer (Red). Included the Amazon product headings where applicable. Planted 04/29 and the growth rate varied while the very last one of 5 appeared on 5/30/2021. Next step is hang outdoors once the weather stabilizes with constant warmer nights, etc and wait for the blooms of my Non-Stop Begonia Red in my 14" Resin Woven Hanging Basket, Espresso Brown, Hangings Basket. My patio holds my hydrangea, dianthus, and these red begonias. Will update as the summer continues. ... show more

  • Light, and easy to use
Size: 0.33 cu. Ft (Pack of 1) Style: Planting Mix
I was skeptical, as Iโ€™ve always used a regular potting soil. But this is a game changer! Itโ€™s so much lighter than regular soil. It also does exactly as it says and expands more than double, when you add water. One bag of this will most likely go farther, than a standard large bag of regular potting soil. Just make sure you donโ€™t overwater, as it holds moisture better than your typical soils. Also my plants had 0 issue with the transition 8/10 would recommend ... show more

  • Treat it Like Peat Moss (that expands)
Size: 0.67 cu. Ft. Style: Planting Mix
I've been stockpiling Miracle Grow Expand all winter because I am 55 and have a rotator cuff injury. I thought it would save wear and tear and pain. I wish it worked as advertised. I have a pretty good basis for comparison at this point. I added this to my top soil in the two beds in February. I grow greens in (spinach, Kale)--two different locations. I didn't add fertilizer because it advertises that it has it's own. And I didn't use it by itself (I had confidence, but not that much confidence). I mixed it with the high quality top soil in the beds that have never failed me. I planted spinach and kale in the usual locations and had some seed left so I just added it to a couple of other raised beds in the same location. Note--I did not add fertilizer to these as it was simply leftovers. It was simply good soil. All spring I've been frustrated with the progress my greens were making. I blamed the weather because we've had an inordinately cold winter and chilly, wet spring. Today I went out to pick the greens in those beds and prepare them for other plants. I finally compared them to the "leftover" seed plantings in the other locations. The seed that grew in those locations OUTGREW the plants in the location with this product. All of them are twice the size--bushy and beautifully leafed out. I suspect that this stuff is fine if you mix it in with good top soil and add fertilizer and/or compost. I think it amounts to being really expensive peat moss. That expands. That's not all bad, but it sure isn't good considering the price. ... show more
