Mnemosyne notebooks are great for many reasons: -the paper is fantastic quality and wonderful to use with my fountain pens; he is pleased with using pencil or other pens on the paper. It just is a smooth, clean paper of a nice weight with great hand. He’s not keen on how thin some papers are (looking at you, Tomoe River), and I dislike thick sheets for myself. We are both pleased with notebooks in this line! - they offer several different styles, so you can get blank, dot grid, graph or lined! There are even notebooks with blank on one side and dot etc on the other - different sizes - spiral bound is available at top or side - because of the firm plastic cover and back, your notebook is well protected. Japanese paper tends to be high quality and both the paper and construction of the notebooks themselves do not disappoint. We tried to find this configuration out and about at a local store, but lined seems to be a less popular option these days, so we found it here. I needed a little notebook for my desk, and this is nice and small, to tuck out of the way. The paper is thick enough that ink doesnt bleed through although you can see a little bit of what was written on the back. It's honestly better than I was expecting.

I’ve been using these notebooks for college for a couple quarters now. They’re very good quality and well made, and the paper is just perfect. It’s nice and smooth, has a nice white shade, so no transparent streaks and inconsistencies. The build quality is top notch, I have many months old notebooks that still look and feel new. The writing experience on these notebooks is just immaculate. It makes taking notes a pleasant experience, especially with good quality pens. Even pencils feel so much better on these, they don’t scrape, but sort of glide and just feel so nice to write with. I used a regular notebook after a while of using the maruman ones, and I was surprised at how much worse they are, I don’t think I could ever go back. Would highly recommend. ... show more

You don’t really realize how good the build and paper material is until you go back to the standard spiral bound books. The paper from those, recycled are usually flimsy, bleed and have a lackluster writing experience. The Memosyne notebook is a gamechanger and makes writing with just about any pen a fantastic and crisp experience. It’s definitely a premium, but try it and you’ll likely never buy a notebook from your local office supply store again. ... show more

Love it well bound, slim profile, carry it daily, paper doesn’t bleed and I don’t think there’s much bettfor the price. Normally not a fan of spiral bound notebooks but this is the best I’ve used this far. Recommend strongly.

    • Worth every penny--and then some.

I cannot praise this notebook enough. I'm a math major, and I take all of my class notes with the Mnemosyne Inspiration. The paper itself is exquisite, and takes everything I've ever thrown at it without a hitch, from .5 mm pencils to 2mm color pencils from .25 gel pens to broad nib fountain pens. It loves everything you can imagine using with it. It especially loves my Waterman Carene pen, which is the deal-maker (or breaker--depending on how a paper does). The pencil lines erase and erase and erase if I make mistakes--which I tend to do a lot of, since parabolas and I seem to hate each other (but not hyperbolas--go figure). For math, this notebook simply cannot be beat. Going back to portrait notes is a major PITA after using this notebook's landscape orientation for a day or two. When I go back to normal notebooks, I miss the Mnemosyne's title bar at the top that lets me log quick-reference information about the contents of my notes--chapter/section, topic, date, etc. I miss the subtle tick mark in the center that lets me know where I can split a page if I need to. I miss how I have enough real estate to write some of my complex problems all the way across the page, where I can see it all, rather than trying to wrap it around to another line, like typical American paper usually required. Or how I can write a formula to one side, notes about how it works in a block below it, then a sample problem in yet another box, and a graph in yet another box. I miss how everything is on one page in a form that makes sense to me. I miss the perforation that works right, every single time, always tearing out the notes without catching or hiccuping at all. I even miss how I can draw out diagrams on the blank page on back or cut out printouts from my professor and glue-stamp them to the blank page on the back and have it facing my homework so that I don't need to dig through massive notes over and over again. Or how I can use that blank page simply to doodle during a dull moment in class. If you love brainstorming your notes, then this notebook will be your new best friend. If you're more restrained and want to do standard I. A. 1 type notes, then you can do them with this notebook, too. When this notebook really shines, though, is when I'm sharing information with a study group. Everyone can see my information and make sense of it at one glance. All I need to do is turn it to face them, and all of the important info is there in one place, and easy to read. Yes, this is an extremely expensive notebook, but it's a steal when I think about how much better of a math student it has made me. I don't know what I'd do without this notebook. ... show more

I love to write with fountain pens, and the quality of the paper definitely matters. This notebook is my current favorite. I use a fine nib with various brands of ink. There is very minimal ghosting with this paper. I like the size of the notebook. I prefer this B5 size, which is a little wider than the more common A5 size. Also, with the perforations, the pages tear away easily from the notebook. I recommend this notebook for fountain pen users. ... show more
