  • excellent mouse but bad refurbishing quality
Color: Logitech G502 HERO
for the few days it worked this mouse was great. ergonomic and comfortable to use, quiet clicks, amazing button customizability, extremely low friction feet resulting in smooth gliding on my neoprene mouse pad. possibly the best mouse i've used. only real gripe was that it has the manual switch for the mousewheel rather than the mag-speed automatic switching like on their mx series. regarding going back to a corded mouse: no issue. was a little concerned because i've used only wireless mice the past decade or so, but the corded nature of this mouse has no impact whatsoever on its usability as a desktop mouse. if you need it for frequent travel or portability then it might be slightly less user-friendly, but as a dedicated desktop mouse it's great. having said all that, the mouse i received was missing parts and it stopped working after a few days, so amazon's refurbishing process doesn't seem reliable. gonna wait for one of these to go on sale again. worth it at the $44 price when on sale (new). ----------------------- other mice i tried mx master 2s: my other mouse. perfect scroll wheel implementation, but the ergonomics still make it it a challenge to find a comfortable grip. also has a horizontal scroll wheel (i honestly never use it, but i can imagine designers would). i ended up keeping this one, i just had to adjust my grip from what i'm used to when using a mouse. mx master 3s: tried this at the store. it's like the 2s but is slightly more comfortable and has improved button placement. the scroll wheel is supposed to be improved in some way, but i couldn't tell how (nor do i find the 2s's wheel lacking). m650l: a much, much more comfortable mouse (same shape as m510), has a scroll wheel that is a cross between the old single click style and the hyperspeed style. i.e. it has permanent ratcheting but the notches are softer, so if you spin it quickly it will scroll for about a second after you let go, so that gives you about 50 lines. the problem is that it loses its momentum too quickly, so it's not a true free scrolling mechanism, and it's much more difficult to scroll it up than to scroll it down. it also doesn't have a thumb button. it does have silent clicking which i really like. i don't know why they put silent clicking on this mouse but not on the m7xx mice. if you don't need the hyper scroll, this is a pretty decent upgrade from a 'classic' mouse like the m510. m705: this one is MUCH betterr ergonomically than the m720, but it doesn't have the thumb button. also lacks bluetooth. however, the scroll-mode-switcher button is a little easier to click so that could be a deciding factor. only drawback with this mouse is that unlike the other mice i tried this one has 'feet' (the pads that contact the surface of your desk or mouse pad) with a rough surface so it doesn't glide as smoothly across my neoprene mouse pad. mx anywhere 3: this mouse has the (imo) ideal scroll wheel, just like the mx master 2s and 3s. it's too small to rest my hand on it, but honestly i find using a mouse that's too small for my palm to rest on more comfortable than a mouse that my palm rests on uncomfortably (as with the m720). m500s: this is a wired mouse with the same scroll wheel as the m705 and m720, has no thumb button, but has great ergonomics. it's not perfectly symmetric, but the rear stretches further back and is more rounded. if you have bigger hands and you like the free scroll, and don't mind a wired mouse, i guess this is the one you want. i would recommend any of these mice except the m720 (sometimes also branded 'precision pro'). ... show more

Nice feel for a mouse and really only bought it for hyperscroll was pleasantly surprised. The weights you can add are also nice since I'm coming from a heavier mouse.

  • Great with known issue
Color: Logitech G502 HERO
The G502 wired mouse is a phenomenal gaming mouse, especially if you find it on sale. For me, I love, love, love the position of the dpi profile buttons, and the added "sniper", low-dpi button by the thumb. Once you set your profiles, this mouse is truly a dream. As far as I can tell, it tracks very well, and doesn't have issues with latency. I find the size and shape about right for my size of hand and style of grip (palm-gripper). I left the extra weights out, and haven't found any issues with the mouse being too light and being pulled around by the cable. To address the huge downside, you can expect that the left/right-click switches will fail you long before other competing mice. My last two G502s failed about one year into use. There are a couple DIY fixes, or mods if you're brave, but I really wish Logitech would just address the main switches. I still consider this mouse as 'THE' standard for a good gaming mouse, albeit with a fatal flaw in durability. ... show more

  • Decent gaming mouse, difficult to use software
Color: Logitech G502 HERO
This is a decent mouse, it does everything you expect and has several extra buttons you can assign other functions to. I found the Logitech software (G Hub) to be a bit hard to use, but I eventually got the side buttons working close enough. Mainly I wanted to disable the forward and back functions and use them as generic mouse buttons that other programs could detect, but the software only allowed me to assign the buttons to other keyboard keys. The scroll wheel is very smooth so I actually have to put more effort into turning it than with my old mouse, but I expect I'll get used to that. It does have a button to unlock it and allow it to spin freely which is nice (and kinda fun). I was glad to find it included weights I could insert to adjust the feel of the mouse, I'm used to a wireless one and this mouse is much lighter without the batteries. Specifically, it has six 3.6g weights you can put in, letting you choose the balance yourself. Unfortunately, the first mouse I got didn't work. Windows could tell something was plugged in to USB, but couldn't do anything else with it. I tried several things around updating drivers and firmware, but was unable to change anything. I sent it back and ordered a replacement, which arrived within only a couple days and the new one worked immediately, so hopefully that was just an unlikely fluke. ... show more
